Sure, the question was: "what is your favorite government?" Thus a personal preference!

If the question had been: "what is the best government?"
Then there would have been only one correct answer: "It depends on the exact situation, but 9 out of 10 times its republic!"

I'm not going to say, but I'll give you a hint.

It starts with 'R' and ends with 'epublic'.

Up to you to figure it out.

Most of the time, I use democracy cause I play alone (I'm a wimp, as I said 10000 times before) ;)

That has nothing to do with it. Republic is simply better, no matter who in RL has tarnished the reputation of either form.

Also, we're only saying Republic is better/best in the game (civ3) for the purpose of winning in most efficient, fastest, and overwhelming way possible from the AI players.
What government is best in RL is a completely different issue.

Also, the question (I think its safe to assume) was about what is our favorite government in the game of Civ3.
What is our favorite government, by personal preference, in RL could very well be something different.

MAS, of course, that's what I meant. I was not talking about the governments in real life.

I'm more and more coming to the conclusion that although we all play Civ III, we play different games. There's a world of difference between small to normal & conquest win (where games don't last long enough to make democracy a viable option) and large to huge, cultural or spaceship...

    Mas: Ah, okay.

No need to change your habits unless you want to get better. If you're fine and having fun at your current level, there's no need to adopt the better strategies.

I myself don't play as high up as I should. I played on regent only for years... when I finally moved to monarch, I won that anyways, my first game, without really trying. And I still play monarch. It's all about fun. I can't remember the last time I lost.

Oh yeah... nevermind. :( But that was a bad map. :p

Republic, in fact I don't even remember the last game I played where I used any other (non-Despotic and not counting Anarchy) form of government.

Maybe I should start an AW game or a 100K game just to force a change upon myself!
