Post your favourite seeds here.

I just played CptButkick on monarch, huge archipelago map (80% water) with normal water, normal temperature and 5 billion year world.
Tried the Dutch for the first time. They were

There are a lot of seeds that are good to put in.
For example this one:

The world settings as you see them and play as Seafaring (because picking different civs can affect where you start)

And here is the actual location:

When I expanded, there was a goodie hut and it gave me a settler for free! :)

And you needed to post images to show that, because? :)

Don't quote me, but I think just because two worlds might have the same seed, doesn't mean they're going to have the same random numbers generated in the same sequence -- even if turns are played out identically.

Frimlin- You're incorrect if they have implemented map seeds as standard srand() seeds in C++. When used in conjuction with srand(), rand() will always generate exactly the same value if you use the same seed. This is due to the rather deficient random number generator used by most compilers. The rand() function simply works its way through a pregenerated list of numbers, and will eventually repeat itself. The seed sets a specific point at which the 'generator' should start returning numbers from the list. Due to this, developers usually use a naturally-random or at least variable value such as the current time as a seed.

Which bit is incorrect? the last post? I don't think so -- but I will admit I'm not 100% sure. All I'm saying is the world's "creation" seed -- a string used for the generation of the world and Civ placement (the topic of this thread) is not the same as the Random seed (which can be "Preserved" between game save/loads and is what generates random events in the game.

I had felt the need to point that out because it seemed for a moment that it was being suggested everyone who entered "Conquests" as the creation seed would also get a free settler in that goody hut. :D Which I'm not entirely sure is the case.

PS: Yes, developers do use lots of methods to generate random numbers -- in the previous company I worked for, one of my colleagues went through a whole list of values he read from the game world and other various places to end up with a "random" number. Was quite staggering what lengths he would go! ;)

I'm not either. I will probably test it though. ;)

Cool -- I'd like to know!

Though it's already kinda eerie that some complete stranger could get really familiar with a world seeded by your own online nickname... :)

Lol, I know CivRules and I aren't the only ones to experiment with world seeds.
Arrogant: please don't go to exceeding lengths to live up to your nickname :p
Once I get home from work today, I'll post a screen shot of the start I described above. I think you might like it :)

according to the vegetarian society, yes. "Nuts are seeds that are covered with a hard shell. Most are the seeds of trees, but the seeds of a few other plants that are not strictly nuts will also be considered here as they can be conveniently classified with nuts for culinary purposes."

LOL...wouldn't it have been easier for you and less wastefull on our bandwith to simply type 'Conquests' instead?

You get Victory Points from controlling that square. I don't remember how much/turn though
