Conservative, but I am not extreme-right on social issues (nowhere near the left though). :king:

I'm a pragmatist:
I vote independent: for people not parties
Fiscally conservative: live within your means
Socially liberal: spend money on education and infrastructure
Assign responsibility
Capitalist
Environmentally green
Simplify simplify simplify

I'm around -6.00, -7.00 on the Political Compass, but I'd call myself a Liberal Social Democrat.

EDIT -- Moral Politics:

No option? I can't even make that work in my head! :crazyeye: Can you elaborate?

I'm a fairly moderate libertarian (by US libertarian standards).
Im a little left, but I am no libertarian.

I know what I believe in, but I don't know what category would I fit. I believe in a strong government.
-I believe in very high taxes.
-I want a strong military, military tradition should be a school curriculum.
-I want a strong welfare state. Where every person is guaranteed at least a place to live, food and K-college education.
-I think people should be allowed to own guns only for collection purposes.
-I think religion is a good thing for society, but it has no place in politics.
-I think voting is the least effective thing you can do in a democracy next to nothing. People should give feedback to the government through schools.
-I think there should be no income cap
-I support abortion not because I don't think the baby is human, but because I think life isn't determine by whether or not its breathes. I think the psychological and emotional aspect of childbirth is A LOT more important than the physical part.
-I believe the government should recognize gay union the way they recognize straight union. Churches can do chose to or not.
-I think Michael Moore is a genius at what he does
-I think Bill O'Reily is a genius at what he does
-I think George H.W. Bush was a damn good President
-I think George W. Bush is a ******.
-I believe in the school of Realpolitik. Moral doesn't really play a role in foreign politics. <Just like how electricity comes from electrons, I think morality comes from morons>
-I don't think you have to be born in the US to become a President.
-I think Propaganda has to be an important aspect of foreign and domestic politics, but if you're going to do it, you're going to have to be good at it.
-I think space exploration is a wonderful investment. Space militarization too.
-I believe in a widespread public transportation system.
-I think we should be clean like Singapore.
-Did I mention a highly invested school system? I think the country should be a giant campus, with everything else branching off from the schools.

I don't use my religion is politics, or I would be against gay rights, so that is not an option for me.

To me that is like saying, if you are conservative and have dark hair, vote dark-haired conservative. One has nothing to do with the other. My religion stays with me.
Zarn, when I first joined this website I thought you were a staunch hardline conservative. I guess really you are a free entrepeneur who rejects excess social regulations. :)

I guess when you really, really can't stand the left..... hmmm.... maybe I should have also... :mischief:
No, you like us more than you're willing to admit. groucho

On this Poll, I wish there had been the option for multiple choice, because I think I would have gone with libertarian economics, nationalist, and moderate conservative for social issues. I ended up picking Nationalist, it's my highest priority. :salute:

After taking this test I found out I was more authoritarian than conservative, and a nationalist as well. The definition is a little different than the polls "socialist/communist" though.

Wow, that's a great link Mauer, Thanks! :goodjob:

So here are my results. (I doubt many of you will be surprised ;) )

Score: 3 on Moral Order, -6.5 on Moral Rules

System: Conservatism
Variation: Economic Conservatism
Ideologies: Conservative NeoLiberalism
Parties: Republican Party
Presidents: Ronald Reagan (95.06%)
2004 Election Candidates: George W. Bush (88.95%), John Kerry (66.85%), Ralph Nader (48.22%)

89.9% of the test takers were higher than me on the 'moral rules axis, 0.8% were below me. 10.4% were to my right on the 'moral order' axis, 85.7% were to my left.

There's a lot to this test that I didn't notice at first. American Democrats and Republicans share one entire axis ~ Independence (versus Authoritarianism) on the "Moral Rules axis". This really makes sense to me, it's the way we go about trying to change the world we live in (Democratic Elections, Free Society) to conform to our various ideals. Unfortunately we often get so caught up in that other argument over Moral Order and where we are going that we forget what a wonderful system it Is that we share.. I guess this is just natural, but I wish sometimes that we could share discussions (as a forum) about some things most of us Do have in common, like our love for Freedom and Justice instead of debating constantly. ;)

Liberal and left

I don´t want the state interfering with personal matters and economy too much. He should fight against poverty and for education and health care.
