Somebody has to do it... the unavoidable poll! :D

so, how is your rating of Gods & Kings so far?

To make the poll a little bit more meaningful, I decided to make it multiple choice. There are three categories:

1. Your absolute rating (points out of 10)
2. Your relative rating based on your expectations
3. Your relation to vanilla CiV

Obviously, it is possible to vote for more than one option in each category. Please, try to abstain to do so. ;)

1. Your absolute rating (points out of 10)
6.5/10 - Espionage has little to no presence. Religion is nice even after it is less relevant, in fact it never becomes less relevant when you can spend faith for great scientists! New civ's are good but some older ones are now kind of useless. Scenario's have never done it for me, and i wish it would have had Advance start options and the ability to memorize those options.

2. Your relative rating based on your expectations
7/10 - I had low expectations. However even with the lack of espionage i would give it a patch or 2. I had expected more in regards to espionage and less in regards to religion.

3. Your relation to vanilla CiV
7/10 - The AI still stands around and lets you bomb away it's units however the pace of combat and gameplay is slowed down - it no longer feels like a blitz through the era's and the AI diplomacy is more stable. I wish that with Espionage/City State bullying i could respond with "Next time this happens, you are declaring war." It is aggravating when your city state gift is bullied out of it's hands but this is a good thing.

Please, try to abstain
Not good at abstinence. However i tried to make up for it by being detailed.

@ "1-vote-for-all-options-guy": I think, your immature joke is not as funny as you might hope...

Maybe, this poll might be quite interesting for some. Please try not to spoil their fun!

I completely agree with the votes for ----- and ----- ;)
I haven't bought it, but from what I've seen, it's OK. Better than CiV's release for sure.

7/10, mostly due to the other stuff that came with Religion and Spies. Religion and spies by themselves would have been a 4 or 5.

I was hoping for more from G&K, not just another culture bar.

For the last one I would say I thought Civ V was ok, but disappointed at a lot of the design decisions and gameplay_

8/10 would have been a 9/10 if not for Austria and Spies. I may be among the few, but Austria's UA is bascily saying City states should not be part of your game plan. I removed her and will wait for a change or major nerf.

I gave it a 7/10 because I was expecting more, but what I got is still interesting and fun.

Well worth the $30 I spent for it, that's for sure.

8/10 - Exactly what i expected, with a few bugs and issues that tends to happen with expansions. After a patch or two to balance the game out and fix some bugs i think this'll be a great expansion, just like BTS was.

Moderator Action: Have edited the poll, removing the one vote for all options. Please try to honor the work of others.

Do mods also have the power to add options in polls? Could be quite useful in some situations.

(in this case: Yes, but not going to add such an option)

My wife and I are having a blast so far. I am playing as the Huns, and she is playing as Sweden.

My best moment so far is having another Civ open up a diplomatic message just to tell me that they are afraid of me, and to take pity on them! My wife replied, well I guess I know who will be the first Civ to die in this game is.

Edit: I gave a 9/10 and so far it is better than I expected.

Edit 2: Didn't vote on the vanilla option, but I liked Vanilla (Not taking into account that having to buy what felt like excessive DLC (aka price for what you got) was at times, infuriating.).

I gave a 9/10 because overall I enjoy the game. The one major thing I cant stand is when you hit next turn and it doesn't auto notify when there's an item you need to do before the end of the turn like it use to. Now it just seems to sit there until you notice.

7/10

----
it is better than my prediction. I predict that G&K is all about, well, religion and espionage. But I am quite surprise to see the AI is smarter, city states diplomacy and quests are better and little touch here and there that make G&K better than my expectation.

About the religion and espionage system : both are mediocre imo.

I think there should be more religion's benefits in each category (founder, follower etc). It would be great if there are benefits that give tremendous effect in one aspect (for example : military) but also give malus in other aspect (for example : reduce happiness).

Espionage will be better if I can see and interact with the spy. Please make a spy unit! There are missionaries and inquisitors, why aren't spies?

----

My opinion on CiV = it is a mediocre game, I like BTS better. But Gods and Kings is better than vanilla CiV. Maybe after a patch or two, G&K will be at the same level with BTS, or even better.

8/10

Better than expected

Civ V vanilla was an okay game

I find it hard to dislike an expansion that adds basic elements that could, and probably should, have been in the base-game. Beyond that, more civs is always nice, and I'm surprised that all the new civs seem fairly well balanced (Austria's UA and the Hun's Battering Ram UU being the main points of contention.

8/10

Better than expected

Civ V Vanilla was an OK game.

Besides all the new content(religion, espionage, city-state quests, etc.), the actual base game mechanics specifically the AI in regards to diplomacy, and even combat have greatly improved.

8/10, better than expected, I liked vanilla, but was bored. Spent a month on AoEO waiting for it to come out. I'm pleased so far. I've only found one bug so far, icons not clearing, but that's so minor. New civs, resources, units, and the CS variety is fantastic.
Only got a few hours to play, set up a game with all new opponents, and testing out religion mechanics first. Perhaps an early indication, started at eight PM, was going to play until midnight, it was four AM when I stopped. Just One More Turn!
So far, fairly happy, and can't wait to play again after I leave this board. (Looking for tips on the hanging icons.) Almost gave it a 9/10, still missing saving your start settings, and a few animations look rough. I never give anything a 10/10, except for possibly Emma Watson.

9/10. Better than expected.

Looks like these are the most popular responses as well :)

That's not specific to G&K. I know the first time I saw it happen was around a month ago.
