YouTube videos from Civ streamers!

The flood gates are opening! Let's try to collect them. :)
These are Civ streamers, right? I.e. none of them work at Firaxis?

I've updated the title, but can switch it back if there's a more accurate term. When I first saw it I thought you meant actual Firaxis employees.

I am loving a lot of the new game mechanics. I am glad builders are gone and you just improve tiles directly when the city gains a pop. That will reduce micro. I also love towns that can add resources to cities. So cities can be very urban and not produce food but just get food from nearby towns. That is very historical.

I love in diplomacy that you can support other civs in their wars by clicking which civ you support in the war support screen.

I like that governments have celebration bonuses now that you can pick.

I love how combat works. You can move units as a group but fight as 1upt. Also, army commanders have promotion trees instead of units. You can specialize your commanders.

I also really like the reinforcement mechanic where you can select a commander and select a unit somewhere and the unit will disappear and "transfer" to the commander in a certain number of turns. So players no longer have to manually move units across the map to reinforce the front lines.

I think they dropped the ball on the Gameplay Showcase, watching JumboPixel explain it actually made the game look cooler.

When the outrage over a single mechanic boils down to the actual immersion breaking then I don't think it's as bad as it seems.

However, the uncanny way the UI resembles Humankind's is... creepy.

Quill ep 2:

So urban tiles can have two buildings

In the case of the example, if Egypt built both of their unique buildings in the same tile, it becomes a unique district with additional bonus

Not clear if a similar mechanic exists to recreate other special districts

He mentions that in civ7, all diplomatic actions cost influence. He feels that this is a bad thing because it will frustrate new players. For example, new players might get frustrated that they can't even do something basic like trade with another civ or denounce another civ because they lack the influence points to do that action. But I think it could be a good thing because it will require players to prioritize how they spend their limited resource. You can spend all your influence points to improve relations with a minor power but then you lack the influence points to do something else you might have wanted to do. Players will have to choose wisely how they spend influence points.

So, having looked through all of these now it's clear that all of them feature the exact same gameplay, which leads me to believe they were given a pre-recorded video. It may be that they are not allowed to show anything else at this point and this is how Firaxis avoids any accidental reveals.

Quill explicitly said that they weren't allowed to record anything in their onsite demos and were given a "b-roll" for the videos in his first vid.
