Youtube videos from Civ streamers!

Not to be a fly in the ointment, and I appreciate those youtubers taking the time to make the videos.

But, Firaxis paid their expenses to travel to Baltimore and experience the game.

I'm a bit concerned whenever someone gives a preview that was paid for by the company making it.

I'm not as super excited for Civ 7, but I'll be watching out for more in depth videos before I buy it (as in, post release). I'd like folks that are more... on neutral ground when it comes to this.

My 2 cents.

It is a concern for sure. But their input is still valuable.

My only concern is if that payment [travel and accommodation] was not adequately disclosed, and on all the videos I have watched so far, everyone has been up front about that.

Potato starts his video with something like "Leaders looks butt ugly like dead testicles and I am sorry for the art team at Firaxis but I feel that way".

I think that is a clear sign that the payment and treatment from Firaxis has not influenced their opinion as much as one can believe.

In one of the videos it shows that the economic legacy bonus tier 3 was that you kept all cities as cities. Is there major rubber banding between each age? Does anyone know what you keep between each era change and what we lose between era change?

I think a simpler explanation is that they all have eyes and noticed that the leader models are ugly (which they are) and that the UI is difficult to read (which it is).

I don't agree that they are so ugly, only uninspired and kind of meh, but I absolutely agree that it is much more likely that they just all agree with this.

Assuming that everyone that got invited by Firaxis willingly got paid off seems unnecessarily cynical to me. I'm sure the streamer "industry" is full of corruption, and much more so than among professional reviewers. But the idea that everyone would be part of such a scheme seems a little silly to me.

Why would it be silly? Their whole model is begging for superchats while gaming. The first thing that potato dude said during his stream with Spiffing Brit was how pissed he was his vid wasn't going to do good numbers because it was late.

Hey all I'm saying is not to trust the opinions of people who clearly state they have a financial interest in the game. It is a firaxis sponsor, not an objective take.
