Mugabe wants to keep the population impoverished and illiterate and wants to maintain his Party-Aristocracy at the top. He doesn't do things for the good of the people.

The 2008 elections can't be taken seriously. If you think they are valid you need psychiatric help.

Alright you got me. But the point is there is no meritocracy in Zimbabwe you need to know someone in the party or be in it to get any better than a life of grinding poverty.

You mean like they've been discriminated against for the last 150 years? The white (extreme) minority is the biggest thing standing in the way of blacks in that country, just like they were in South Africa.

If they want to undermine the rule of a privileged elite (which I highly doubt they do, since the State itself is by definition controlled by the privileged elite), they don't have to resort to racism. Nationalizing industries (or, much better yet, trade union expropriation of industries) works just as well.
