ZPNESVI Discussion Thread (Nesse)

OOC: Again, I really think it would be best to wait for the real update to do anything, but I guess it's good to have something to do while we wait, so I'll jump in for a second...

IC: The Fiddlers are unfamiliar with the Rouge Clan, though from what we understand of the situation, it would appear that they were defending their religious beliefs. We do not condone their actions, and in fact, we believe their acts to be quite uncivilized and nearly barbaric. However, we do believe that some consideration should be made for the fact that, though accidental, the town of Iaeda infringed on sacred ground. While, of course, the townsfolk were unaware, and the Rouge should have made a formal complaint of some kind, we do not believe their utter annihilation is a right and just action. To destroy a whole culture out of vengeance is an equally barbaric act. Some form of justice must be done, but it must be considered that, inadvertently, the town of Iaeda struck first. We grieve the lives lost on both sides, but we also understand that if we allow our culture to be driven by vengeance and rage, we will find ourselves all dead quite quickly.

Outlanders were never part of Nesse, or so they claim. Attack on fellow Nesse is a declaration of war by foreign powers and must be dealt accordingly. Or so Chief Omas of the Watchmen believes.

We understand that Nessian citizens were killed, as were Outlanders, and this is highly upsetting, but we must also consider that if Nessians are to live in the Outlands, they should first take stock of the Outlanders already living there. If the Outlands are not truly a part of Nesse, then Nessians moving into it are either choosing to become Outlanders, or are choosing to encroach on Outland territory. It could be said that the Rouge Clan was attacked first, as they seem to believe is the case. I'm sure that other Outland clans would be equally upset if a town were established by a Nessian clan in an Outlander clan's territory without consultation.

With all due respect, this is not the Fiddlers affair.

As Magistrates of Iaeda, the Ìademos are entrusted with enforcing the laws of Nesse in the name of the Senate. We are given the right of judgement when crimes between Nessers and Outlanders occur. In this instance, Outlanders killed Nessers and Outlanders without warning or protest. This crime is inexcusable, and we will see the Rouge Clan disbanded for mass murder. The force of law, of the Senate, and of the Moderator stands behind our claim.

In addition, the territory on which Iaeda was founded was NOT PART of Outlander territory previous to its' founding. We believe that this 'sacred tree' claim of the Rouge may simply be a justification to loot the town, as our records indicate this region was unsettled before the founding of Iaeda by our House.

Regardless, the rights of the living are paramount to the rights of the dead.

The Silivus Clan condems the attack by the Rouge Clan. We hope that in the future, as our masons work to finish fortifications around Iaeda to protect against such raids, increased protection will be offered to allow our men to finish our work in safety, without fear of death.

But I must warn everyone of the presence of Exiled and Sea Kingdom Ships landing in the coast. We should at least investigate if that rumor is true or not.

Betraying your allies on top of everything else? This is just a red-letter day for you, Matty-boy. :p

They cut down trees for a living, need I say more?

If us living in the forest for a few hundred years is your definition of unsettled, then yes, that land is clearly unsettled.

Real update is now up here. Nothing really contradicted from the preview, just tidied up a bit. And more stuff added of course.

So yeah there is an issue with the Outlanders and where they live exactly. Their home should be roughly within the claimed territory at the point of joining the game. I guess Matt0088 could claim that ancient ancestors once lived there, even if people have moved around since then.

OOC: When will all the stats be updated? :D

The Fire Clan makes the following decree:

Any and all groups, individuals, nations, coalitions, animals and mythical creatures found to be attacking citizens of Nesse or the peaceful Outlanders will attract the ire of the Fire Clan. As has been seen we are more then willing to defend against wrongful attacks. If the Rogue Clan wishes to stop the felling of their ancestral trees, they have every right to ask for assistance from the Fire Clan, just like any other clan may do, and we will do our best to strive for a just outcome.

Due to the reasons for the attack on Ieada we are willing to offer a hand of truce to the Rogue Clan. Should they provide assistance to the people of Ieada by gathering food for them until their own food growing capabilities have returned, then we shall attempt to prevent the felling of any more of the Rogue Clan ancestors. We are brothers united by a great city, and we must stay together, especially during these troubling times.

From: The Fire Clan
To: The House of the Horned King

The Fire Clan requests that a shrine and a small number of priests be established in Incendia. With our very religious soldiery and a growing civilian population, we believe it wise to show the dedication of the fort to the Horned King, so that he may keep Incendia from harm.

House Ìademos continues to state that these 'ancestral trees' are a ridiculous fiction. The Dresden Family was not attacked for their felling of trees in lands far closer to Nesse. And the Dresden have felled far more trees than the citizens of Iaeda. Why is it that OUR trees were conveniently sacred to the Rouge? Because, Iaeda had wealth, and the Rouge Clan believed that they could gain from plundering prosperous Nessers, slaughtering their families and eventually taking OUR lands for themselves!

The Rouge Clan has ALSO been accused of indiscriminately attacking caravans! Were the caravans also felling sacred trees? Or were they walking over stones sacred to the Rouge Clan as well?

We will bring these murderers, raiders, and thieves to justice. We ask for the aid of the Senate in doing so.

---

We, too, welcome the presence of the Horned King in Iaeda. We ourselves will fund the foundation of a small temple to his Incorporeal Majesty.

OOC: I only sent that to see what he would do, and he performed marvelously.
IC: I'm still a little unclear on how many tasks I can take on. I don't want to stretch the timber supplies too thin, but I don't want the crap piling up around the lodge.

The House of the Horned King is humbled at the requests, and will establish the shrines. We hope our small contribution can turn death's gaze from the soldiers of Nesse.

We are considering nominating a particular day of the week as a day of faith, as part of an agreement with the Ninticus Clan. On this day tolls would be reduced, to allow the faithful easier access to the shrines and temples. Any preferences?

The Fire Clan believes Thursday should be the day chosen, it being based off a foreign Pagan god. The name of Thursday should be changed to Hornsday, and be made holy. Foreign gods have no place in our calendar.

OOC: I find it hugely ironic that the 7 day per week calendar of OTL Earth is what we're basing our assumptions on.

EVEN SO, we believe that the first day of the lunar cycle should be sacred to the Horned King. When the moon vanishes from the sky and all is cast into darkness, we can count only upon he who masters the darkness beyond life itself.

I thought it better then making up a completely new system that would only serve to confuse everyone.

House Challoan proposes that an Outlander training program be established. To help prevent other incidents such as the attack by the Rouge clan, a training program will be established to train members of Outlander clans to police themselves. Funds would also be allocated to better arm the Outlander clans' policing units. Also, militias and policing units in Uuta and Iaeda should be trained and funded.

We should ensure that Riva falls under Nesse influence. We don't want the Sea Kingdom or the Golden Barbarians to lay claim to it.

We will not buckle to the Cyrians. No way, no how.

Alya agrees with preparations for the arrival of the Cyrians and for a force to be sent to claim Riva for Nesse.

One of the junior researchers here at the Fiddler Laboratory came up with an idea that might help defend the city, should the Cyrians reach the walls. Once the new waterworks are complete, then water should be abundant in the city, and we can then take some of the excess and boil it on the ramparts. If the Cyrians should attempt to scale the walls, they will find themselves scalded and left prone at the base of our defenses. Alternatively, this could be done with pitch, which would be even more insidious a defense mechanism, should we find an ample source of it nearby; anybody know a good swamp nearby?

We still have a few workers in the manufacturing wing, who are only becoming more and more skilled at the creation of laminate arms and armor. Place your orders with our receptionists in the lobby, and keep your men protected, out of reach, and deadly to the Cyrian Horde!
