OK, there seems to be interest in a WWII game but people seem unsure about starting one. I will attempt to coordinate a PBEM if enough people sign up.

I am only using ZWK because I am familiar with it.

Scenario - Zweiter WeltKrieg version 2.2 (i.e. version 2.1 plus the 2.2 patch)

Difficulty Level - Prince

Slots available

Soviets - open (weak position at the begining)
Axis - open (most amount of units, cities and thus moves)
Allies - open (requires patience and more micro management)

Minor Axis - AI
Minor Allies - AI
Neutrals - AI
Independents - AI

If you want to play please post below which tribe you want. The game can start after 3 players have signed up.

yeah I'll play allies, or if there are 5 signups I'd much prefer minor axis

so Ohwell starts off...come on ohwell

Please find a bmp map which you will need to give the occasional overview updates. I was planing to do this myself but now that kevin is playing, I am confident that he can do this.

Kevin, remember to save as bmp first after updating the map in MS paint and then save as JPEG for attachment (so it can be viewed without downloading).

Everyone should familiarise themselves with the house rules in the readme. In particular, the Allies cannot declare war except on the minor Axis and the Soviets. Also, during negotiations with the AI, do not take any advance except the advance that th AI offers you.

I'll steal yours....

No. My point is that the maps posted in the other ZWK thread are all JPEGs. So you can't use the fill can to change the colours since the colours are uneven - a by product of JPEGS files being smaller for the same image. You need to use the bmp file attached above to do that.

I'm glad to hear this Ohwell. MP aside, what did you play as in your single player game and what did you like about it? (just for curiosity's sake)

I played as the Allies, but I think I played too corservative for the Allies, and I didn't make the deadline. I liked the realisticness, much more so than regular games. Why I like scenarios. The design was cool, and the idea of Rudoph Hess taking control of the Axis... And the theme songs too :D

I am also currently playing as the Soviets for practice, They are actually getting to be tedious and slow, though they should be. I underestimated, and figured the Soviets to be easier to play. It is going to be hard and cold winter for the Soviets...

Fall Gelb: Holland conquered
- Amsterdam / Berlin -
This early morning the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe have begun a joined operation to conquer the lowlands and France. The only resistance in the Netherlands came from troops stationed in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, but as expected the Wehrmacht had no trouble. Queen Wilhelmina chose to stay in her palace, even the members of her government stayed: "The Führer is no bad guy: he's part Dutch and hasn't taken over any of the wrong ideas of the one he succeeded. Of course I prefer a free country, but now I'm Queen of Germany too! I bid this man welcome in my country."
The troops are moving south to Belgium and France. By conquering Holland the Wehrmacht made a superb move bypassing both the Maginot-line and the Belgian line of defence, Brussels only seems a matter of time. The Belgian parliament already tried to escape, but on their way to Paris a Bf-109 shot their train in pieces. It isn't clear yet how many died.
Both the Neutral leader and the Minor Allied leader paid a visit to our beloved capital. The Neutrals left after a short time, since they couldn't meet our territorial demands for peace. The Minor Allied stayed for a couple of days. "They offered us the knowledge of the M3 Stewart. The Führer thought about it, but declined wisely. After that we were offered a tribute of 250 gold, this too was declined. After that the Minor Allied leader walked out of the Führer's chamber cursing and yelling that they would teach us a lesson." stated the Führer's Information Center. Of course this is very undoubtful, and we, the Stuttgarter Zeitung would like to give him today's Idiot of the Day price.....let's check out how many will follow.

Hmmmm...this is not a typical error.

The only strange thing I can see is that the taskbar says Ultimate Civilization. Also, that ship on the screenshot doesn't exist at the beginning of the game.

Did you save the ZWK_Axis_2.net in the ZWK folder before loading? I tried the file WillemO attached and there is nothing wrong with it.

Is the sequence of choices you made loading the game as follows --> MP game - Network game - TCP/IP - Load a saved MP game?

If neither is the problem, can I just ask a few questions first.

You already downloaded the ZWK 2.1 and applied the 2.2 patch. Played the scenario in single player mode with no problem?

You are running version 1.3 of Civ2 MGE?

You can start a new network-scenario game with no problem?

I think you didn't load in from the ZWK file: all the colors on the map are different: the independent aren't red for example, I'm not grey. Besides that, the date says A.D. 2, which must be week 2. That ship probably is a Merchant Ship or a Capital Ship in ZWK. The problem is that you didn't play from the ZWK direcotry I think. Just cut the *.net and put it in your ZWK cirectory, then load the network game from it.
