Backround info:
Saint Stephen of Hungary, hungarian Szent István and born as Vajk, was the first christian king of Hungary. He was from the Árpád gouse, meaning that Árpád was one of his ancestors. His reign focused on christianizing Hungary and integrate it into europe this ways. Of course, a radical change like that was not welcomed by everyone. Koppány, a relative of Stephen (maybe cousin, maybe uncle, or maybe something else), prefered to prevent the traditional hungarian livestyle and claimed the throne of Hungary. This lead to a civil war that was finally won by Stephen and which Koppány didn't survive. This story has been eternalized by the rock opera "István a király" ("Stephen, the king" - which has nothing to do with Stephen King). Integrating Hungary into europe made sure that its enemies wouldn't ally to wipe out Hungarians, but made them accept Hungary and thus save its survive on long terms.
