Background info:
Imre Nagy was twice prime minister of Hungary during the cold war. Already during WWI, as soldier he was captured by the russian army. Later, he joined the red army and there are rumors that he was even involved in the murder of the czar family (this is a highly disputed question). After WWI, he returned to Hungary, but emigrated to the USSR again in 1929. In 1944 he returned to Hungary again and started his political career. He became agrar minister, after Stalins death even prime ministery as he was said to be a reformer. After power struggles within the party, he lost is office and got suspended from the party although he was popular among the people. In 1956, when the hungarian revolution begun, he returned as prime minister to calm down the people. But the parties strategy failed as Nagy slowly decided to join the revolution. Giving the revolution a face and some kind of lead this ways, may have been one reason why it kept being that consequent. After the soviets decided to put down the revolution and sent troops to Hungary, Nagy took flight to the yugoslav embassy. After a trick, he got captured and were brought to Romania. In 1958, he brought him back to Budapest to accuse and then execute him. Till the very end, he never regret that he took part in the revolution saying "I don't ask for mercy." His reburial in 1989 finally lead to the end of communism in Hungary.
