The Golden Pavilion
Located in Kyoto, Japan, the Golden Pavilion is a buddhist temple situated in tranquil surrounds. The exterior walls are entirely coated in Gold leaf, which gives it's Japanese name, Kinkaku-ji, Kin meaning gold and ji temple. It is not known when the temple was coated, however it started life as a private residence for a Daimyo (Japanese Warlord) during the Sengoku Jidai period of Civil War.
