The Buddhas of Bamiyan
Carved from Sandstone cliffs in the province of Bamiyan in Afghanistan, the Buddhas of Bamiyan were two enormous Buddha statues, accompanied by many more smaller statues. The statues were declared false idols by the Taliban-led government in 2001, which ordered their destruction. In March that year, the statues were dynamited. Fortunately, legends still survive about other large statues in the area, including a legendary 300 metre giant. Indeed, an 18 metre reclining buddha has been discovered. Also in the area are the world's oldest Oil Paintings, dated to the fifth century CE, the same time as the statues were constructed. Ingame, the Buddhas of Bamiyan provide all land units with a 10%
