Buda Castle
Located on the bank of the Danube river in modern day Budapest, Buda Castle is a site formerly used by several different parties throughout its history, including as a palace and as a defensive castle. It has been destroyed several times since it was first constructed in the 15th century, most recently in the 1960's following significant damage during World War Two. It was also heavily damaged following the conquering of Buda by Christian forces, when an artillery shell struck part of the castle that was being used as a gunpowder store.
