welcome folks to a new line of Role Play Challenges, hosted and played out by your's truely! Sure I played out the MS Classic RPC series to it's end, but as a few mentioned many thought I would not stay away! I feel the urge to start playing these games out again as posting a game with some educational and fun aspects make CIV alot more interesting!

However, I do not plan to play the 52 leaders as their stories are in fatc done. Instead I plan to exploit/mock/honor/ridicule others in history or modern society. There are many great (or not so great) leaders/people in our times that have been left out and missing from old Mad Scientists twisted, if not entertaining, humor! There is also no time limit on games, nor a finite ending to this series. I will simply play them as I go, slowing down as I see fit. What I will do is apply one of our current 52 leaders trait/civilization to the victum, I mean leader. Rumor has it some of our beloved (or hated) leaders have been, well, maybe a little busy and been spawning off some illegitimate off-spring throughout history. You be the judge. I will also NOT discuss future games until the absolute end of the previous (if I feel like it), to keep an element of surprise! Otherwise, expect these games to played as previous MS-RPCs!

But where to start? I gotta admit I got this idea from Slobbering Bear's RPC "DUBYA", and I figure our fine current American President could use a little ridicule, I mean honor ;)

Rumor has it there a secret meeting between two CIV leaders in the past. No not Sury and Shaka (don't go there) but

The Mother A Sweet and beloved English Lass

And The Father a rather Zealotish, yet dapper Ethiopian

Which produced our New leader for this game

Who I shall play appropriately as Lincoln of America!

Of course no RPC is worth anything without some rules to stress out Old Mad Scientist, but first

Settings

Marathon Speed (yes I am playing Normal speed now, but RPCs are made for this epic speed!)
Monarch Difficulty
Big/Small Map

Rules

Obama is a charismatic leader! In fact he cares little about anything else, the man lives to be loved.

1) He cannot refuse any trade (except war declarations and closing trades), feeling the need to please veryone at once even if he ends up with no real Allies!

2) All Wars Are Dumb, therefore he cannot declare war himself. However, he can fight as he pleases, including escalating things even though he thinks all wars are stupid. Vassals are to be encouraged here too if possible, he is American afterall!

3) He can only win by a UN diplomatic win! He cares little for space, culture, or land. He merely cares about what others think of him!

So onto the start

Americans start with fishing/agriculture. Never did this before but I am tempted to settle right ontop of a goody hut!

Segment 1: The Settling of America
Segment 2: Obama Magic
Segment 3: American Diplomacy
Segment 4: Obama's Plan
Segment 5: Destiny
Segment 6: Education is King
Segment 7: Diplomatic Victory

LOL! A great start for the new series. I love it.

It seems to me that this calls for the Classic American startegy - jump into other folks' wars and grab vassals in order to control the UN vote!

:goodjob: What else can I read when I'm bored, than a Madsceintist RPC?

I favour moving the Settler 1S for the extra Rice. We keep the proper American Food (That being Hamburgers) in the BFC, and get something to make buns with! (What you never tried it? Well neither have I :p)

I would settle there too. That way you get an extra FP. The only problem is if it is a lake. Then you won't be able to build ships in Washington.

I think you should push for Health Care reform! Get to Environmentalism as soon as possible!

@Ignorant Teacher: Can seafood spawn in lakes? I didn't think it could.

I thought of this but figured I can play it up as we go along. By the time I research medicine the Real Obama may have a different story on it anyway!

@Ignorant Tacher: Can seafood spawn in lakes? I didn't think it could.

Not in fresh water lakes, but sometimes in a closed body of water (is that the way to call it?) it does. You can build a harbor, a lighthouse and stuff but you can't build ships. More than once it happened to me. But I hadn't seen it was B & S, I think it's more difficult to happen in this map script.

You will need someone to opt to declare on you, to get vassals most likely. Although I guess you could take peaceful ones.

UN will be hard with the "must accept trades" rule, unless we plan ahead a little bit such that the requests come up less often.

It's been a while since I shadowed a MadScientist RPC!

I kicked the speed to normal and changed my color to green...everything else is identical to mad's settings.

To 1 AD

Spoiler :

The hut gives me a map when I opt to settle SW:

Troublesome...In place or settling a 2nd city on marble grants access to the land to the north, but I want the good capitol so I go ahead and settled 1SW from start position anyway.

We are already CHA and having happy sources is great. I decide to go ahead and run down there for a block on Justinian and to grab some gems. A lighthouse gives us one good FW lake tile also.

Farming early scientists...I put an academy here. The cap is going all-out GP farm style.

And since we have marble TGL/NE early.

Now note that I went AH, fishing, mining, mysticism, pottery, writing, ALPHABET (monarch AI is slow), traded that around a bit en route to aesthetics ----> lit. After this I'd actually head for drama/music!

Like code of laws, drama unlocks philosophy. Taoism gets founded 300 years before confucianism! Everyone is buddhist pretty much so I go that route too. Pacifism, NE, philosophical, great library, and national epic allows for...some GPP.

And at 1 AD

To Liberalism.

Spoiler :

I see the AIs throw down a bit but largely ignore it. The AP stops these wars quickly anyway.

I sank a couple bulbs and the AIs were so slow. I decided hell with it, I'll take state property and expand using workshops to any land requiring astro. Workshop SP cities can be set up very rapidly so they're nice.

1715 RPC Success!

Spoiler :

More stupid AI wars, more AP stepping in.

Circumnavigation off of auto-explore caravels.

Monty gets into the action too:

Notice the city! These kinds of cities only need a granary, lighthouse (if seafood), forge, CH (only because it's across the map), then they can build wealth or research. If I had AL before the game was won anyway of course factory/coal plant too.

It's a straight shot to mass media with a lot of backtrades @ friendly. I even wound up bulbling physics and electricity...

Now for the obligatory "how did the AIs vote for me" pics:

And a look at the final techs:

I only put cottages in one city and it wasn't the capitol. I'm not known for running specialist games but this turned out pretty well. It was hard to pass it up with the marble and high food cap.

And I stayed out of representation the entire game, too...I didn't build mids of course and then beelined mass media directly, so no constitution until someone finally teched it. Problem was, two AIs like HR and none rep on this map, so I just said to hell with rep and kept HR...I was close to winning anyway.

Thanks for bringing this series back. I was just thinking that are so few games to follow lately.

Yes, Change! Change to settle in place!

Why would you give up +1 FP and a food resource in the capitol's BFC? SW still retains fresh water you know...or are you telling him not to settle in place :p. Motto is too confusing.

Because this is Obama and change is good. Never mind it's a poor dicission, we need new thoughts and Ideas!

By the way, I'll likely move the warrior south and settle 1SW. Talk of change is nice, but when it comes down to it we need to do things in the best interest of America!

I expect a resource north of the settler.

It's a reasonable expectation based on how the map generator works, but can you name a resources that is worth +1 rice and +1 flood plains? Maybe irrigated corn (which isn't up there most likely) or a pig resource (which could be (Edit: no it can't, that's a plains tile which can be seen in the starting screenshot...best you can hope for is sheep, wheat, or a metal/horse)), but not a whole lot else. But what if rather than that, it's uranium, aluminum, coal, etc? I'd take a BFC wheat over rice at this point in the game, but that isn't exactly odds-on.

If it is something enticing one could always put another city up there(and even tile-swap with the capitol if need be).

Still, it's not like in place is bad.

Yes. Stone, Marble, Pig, Iron, Gold (is always possible).

Yes. Stone, Marble, Pig, Iron, Gold (is always possible).

Pig is not possible because it is a plains tile.

Gold is not possible AFAIK because it is flat land. Gems are possible on flat land but not on plains.

Stone, marble, and Iron are possible, as is copper/horse/later resources.

You have to ask yourself which of those resources are worth -1 flood plains and rice though. Horse is good because AH is a priority anyways with cows. Iron? Probably not worth it (you'll have a 2nd border pop by then anyway). Stone is more important as a BFC resource than marble, unless you want something weird like FAST ToA...but is it worth more than what we're giving up? I'm not convinced.
