I've never heard "the global north" being defined before, but it's going to be places north of the Equator and I'd hazard a guess that it's the new version of "non-Third World" countries, so Europe, the Anglosphere, Japan etc.

About the only time that I can think of that we had anywhere close to "uncontrolled" immigration was in 2005 when the EU expanded east and Blair's government chose not impose the temporary immigration limits on new EU citizens, leading to a lot of Poles coming over to stay.

I struggle to see why. It doesn't appear to be about "owning the libs", or drumming up votes amongst racists and the like.

I don't know the details involved in home ownership issues, but houses that are in imminent risk of subsidence due to cliff erosion are stripped down as much as possible and the inhabitants put up elsewhere.

The east coast is particularly prone to coastal erosion, though the size of the country doesn't actually change that much, as much of the eroded soil ends up being washed up on the west coast (if I remember my geography lessons correctly).

That's a very similar map to that presented in Mark Lawrence's Empire of Thorns series, where the world experienced (amongst other calamities) 100 metres of sea level rise.
