What is your favorite Civ to Play and how you play them?

Venice. $. Trade routes galore. Hog all the wonders that give GM points or extra trade route (x2 for you!)

National Wonders - How many do you use?

I like one-city games, so all of them usually (except grand temple if no religion obviously). I beeline national college but they're all pretty good.

Digging a hidden arch. site still causes a diplomacy hit

What's 'hidden' from the other civ is the potential of the site, the knowledge that something valuable will be there. Digging up someone's land isn't hidden, and the artifacts you unearth under their noses are not hidden either.

    Venice and Tiles

The ability to buy units/buildings is enough IMO. Buy them culture buildings, use great generals if you got 'em... I like how it is a bit of work to acquire certain tiles in the puppets.

have you seen a city flip?

Four cities in one game, when I was barely paying attention to culture/tourism. Dozen other games, nada.

You broke your promise to move your troops away from the border

The AI knows it's 50 turns, but the player isn't given that info when they're asked to make the choice. That part bugs me. Players shouldn't have to google it or find out what they promised the hard way. Penalties for breaking a promise, OK. Being asked to promise peace for a mystery period...

You broke your promise to move your troops away from the border

We should be able to demand the same of the AI. But at this point I just think of it as part of the game, for better or for worse, that I have to be careful how I move troops so as not to trigger the ultimatum when I'm not ready to attack. Once in a while it involves an annoying detour but...

    no coal from CS

The CS hasn't discovered the tech yet. Wait and you will get it.

What do you think of the Kasbah?

Blah, without Petra. Pretty much every desert start is blah without Petra, or unless you're Netherlands and it's all flood plains. Hills+rivers+Petra+kasbahs is nice, but that's not really a comment on kasbahs alone. Regular, flat, non-flood-plain desert tiles suck, and with the kasbah they...

Do you build academies or research a technology with your Great Scientists?

They connect strategic resources, not luxuries. They will not improve luxuries. But if you later find coal/uranium etc. where you planted a GS, it will be available without mining. This makes sense because you can always see where luxuries are, but in early game you won't know where all...

This has happened to me every time I built a nuke.

Is it ever ok to not found a religion?

Most games I find maintaining my own religion in my cities and spreading it is not competitive in a fun way, but merely tiresome. I find Venice in particular more enjoyable if I don't bother with it. My puppets tend to be spread across the map and isolated within other people's religions. I...

    Tips with Venice

I couldn't live without that trade overview. I check the available routes list sorted by gold whenever I build a new cargo ship and whenever I am about to renew a route.
