I did the work around and got the DLC working. While the new leaders show up in simple game start, they still do not show up in advanced setup.
Edit: Oh! They just don't show up in pre LP advanced setup saves. Not really a biggie.
Has anyone tried a game with the new barbarian mode and zero city states? It seems like the barbarian clans don't advance in progress. It's as if there are no city states at the start of the game, there can't ever be.
I really haven't done a thorough attempt though. It might be me.
In the description of Apocalypse Mode, it says it adds more catastrophes. I believe it said this before the last patch, but I took it to mean that they no longer wanted the fires and meteors in the vanilla mode. I was kind of bummed by this and am happy to see you asking if it's actually a bug.
Taking a capital gives era score.
Eliminating a civilization gives era score; you don't have to take all the cities, but you do have to take the last.
Killing a unit the first time while a general is hanging around also gives era score.
I tried to find a spot for this because I didn't want to start a new thread. I'm midway through my first game, and I've not seen one turtle. Has anyone else seen them? They are in the game, right?

I'm with you on this. I think they should of been represented as icons (like religion is). It does feel weird to have multiple instances of a certain governor. Also, I do not like how they're represented, by face, on the city banner at all.
I feel she'd be much better wide. First, she gets punished with overcrowding your cities with districts. Second, she benefits from more governors which is better when you have cities to plant them. I guess it depends a bit on how powerful governors can get if you level them up though. Her...
I haven't read the manual, so these are just working theories at this point. The circle displays how dominant the religion is; sort of like a pie chart. It's just a graphical display of the religious makeup of the city. In my own city, I've sent a missionary to a half filled circle city, and...
With that last picture, there seems to be both culture from the holy site (possibly still a piety thing) and science beakers on trading posts (a rationalism perk). Maybe both rationalism and piety can be active in Brave New World?
