have you seen a city flip?

Have had one flip (to me) so far. America was in huge unrest (started having rebels overrunning their empire, which was weakened from a war with Germany) and Boston flipped to me late in the game while I was going for a Cultural Victory. Unfortunately, it was near useless thanks to 22 turns of...

Why does tourism NOT produce gold?

And that would break the game.....

Tourism comes too late to matter much...

Or not. Threads are for discussion, not ranting/whining. It was tested. No game is perfect at launch. Tourism makes more sense coming later, when people can actually, you know, tour. It'd be kind of silly for a civ to be attracting tourists from all over the world when there's no modern...

Trouble getting 3 continents with Indonesia

Pretty sure you can just settle on islands for the luxuries. I know Indonesia in my last game had Nutmeg from having a city on a one-tile island like 3 tiles off the coast.

Steam Summer Sale: Civ5 up for flash discount vote

That was unintended, so there's no way that's happening again.

    Worth buying at this point?

Definitely worth it. Is it perfect? No, but it's still a lot of fun, and it feels more polished than Gods & Kings was. Will be even better if Firaxis does a good job of fixing some of the balancing issues.

Is this expansion any good? Review Brave New World

8/10, can go higher when/if they fix some of the issues, such as the diplomacy victory being way too cheap, or the AI being a bit of a pushover.

How do you get G&K civs on BNW?

Well, the Steam Summer Sale is going on, you can probably get G&K for ridiculously cheap..... Were you here for when G&K released, when numerous people complained about how they deserved a discount on G&K because other people were getting Spain for free (since it was included with G&K) and...

    Peaceful? Try assyria as neighbor

Assyria surprisingly extended an offer of friendship to me in one of my games (Portugal, Emperor, we were neighbors). Didn't get to see how it played out (I bailed on the game) but he wasn't a sociopath like I thought he would be. So far in ~2 games (one complete game and two half games) my...

Making BNW To Perform Better On An Older PC

You're gonna need better hardware in all likelihood, plain and simple. 2GB of RAM isn't gonna cut it, Vista's probably using half of it. Video card I'm also guessing is bad if it's stock, although you don't need a great one for Civ V (my 5770 is almost 3 years old and still does a decent job)...

    Updated Starting Biases (XML)

Think there's some missing (e.g., The Iriqouois get a forest start bias IIRC), although maybe they just didn't update them (even though it seems some old ones that were known were listed again).

    Endgame Tedium–My Experience

Diplomatic Victories have always felt cheap in Civ games, and they still feel cheap in BNW. It's back to being an economic victory, and I'm not sure how the devs will ever make it feel satisfying, because it hasn't felt like an earned victory since it was introduced (Civ III). Personally, I...

    Ideologies Influence Screen?

I believe that's actually the name of the tab it's under. I remember being confused why it was named that.

Merchant of Venice is the bane of my existence (in game)

It's amusing that some people are complaining about Venice being useless when used by the AI, never using their Merchants...and then this thread is basically the opposite. Guess I'll have to put them in my next game to see who is right, although I do worry about them being Austria 2.0 and...
