Babylon can get to crossbows much faster than anyone else (build three slingers, find some gold). Then it’s just a question of whether you want to take over the world, because you have to screw up pretty badly after that to ever be threatened again.

On turn 3, a barbarian camp appears directly next to the nearest tribal village.
On turn 4, meteorites fall from the sky and OBLITERATE the barbarian camp.

No one has ticked off the Kongo: I got within a few kilometres of the DRC when gorilla-spotting in Uganda, though.
My main complaint is that once you get friendships/alliances it’s very hard to lose them, no matter how evil you are to everyone else. I guess if you’re a pure builder type you’ll like that advantage, but it does take a big edge out of the game, as does the inability to back-stab friends...
When Ed finds out that Carl ranked the Roman invasion as third priority behind the barbarians and actually planning and building an empire… gotta be deflating. That volcano yield porn was brutal.

I may be a savage re: understanding every mechanism in the game, but it annoys me badly in these streams when they save the kills for the city bombard…
