    By the look of it a planet takes up 7 tiles. Maybe for Civilization 6 they should have cities and resources take up 7 tiles as well so that units can maneuver better, allowing for better tactical combat and AI.

    I agree that it's probably best to keep it simple, so what if you just divide up every hex tile into 4 just parts for units. This means there are 4 more tiles for units to maneuver which by itself will make the map far less crowded. The movement points then probably will have to be doubled...

    Selling cities to the AI to bring down their tech rate

    Additionally I suppose you can sell cities to encourage the AI to war on each other as well. Although personally I don't like to exploit the AI that way :p.
