I just started up a game as Shaka, going for a Domination victory (surprise). Considering my plan is basically to go to constant war for the entire game, it seems like this is pretty much the ideal time to use Honor. But I'm wondering if, even under ideal circumstances, Honor is ever really a...
Ok, so I just bumped my difficulty up to Emperor and am working my way through a game as Venice going for an SV (I know they're not the best civ for it by a long shot, I just chose them as they seemed interesting). I'm set to eke out a victory around T390, so I guess I technically "won", but...
Oh I forgot completely about the rebasing tile limit. It's probably that actually, thanks for the tip. Do you know what the tile limit is/does it change based the type of plane?
So quick question to all you people that know more than me:
I currently have 4 air units in one city, and I'm trying to move a 5th one in, but it won't move. Is there a 4-unit cap or something that I was unaware of?
Hahaha sorry that's just the funniest comment I've ever read :goodjob::D Don't worry I did something pretty similar once. If I were you, I'd just "win" by taking the capitals (following others' advice), and ignore the fact that you won't get a pretty win screen at the end.
I'm currently playing as Venice right now, and you're dead on. Although I have 4 cities right now, thanks to a Merchant of Venice and a war with Poland :p
The problem is that puppeted cities prioritize gold, so they pretty much won't build a factory. Rush-buying them is too expensive, and...
The best explanation for swordsmen damaging aircraft is that the aircraft are actually damaging themselves. Airplanes getting destroyed in the landing/taking off process, or by a pilot crashing or the plane malfunctioning, are not at all uncommon. Its actually the only reason the US lost a plane...
I think the science penalty itself ought to be eliminated. Making that doable through liberty only would make liberty too unavoidable for wide empires (it could add up to what, a 50% or more reduction in research times in some cases?). Even tall empires might need to consider it, since even a...
Interesting. So when an AI says "So and so is plotting against you", it really just means "He likes you less than you think"? If so, I can find that out just by trying to trade with him. If he offers me less than normal for a lux or strat resource, I know he doesn't like me as much.
So ever since I got BNW, I've noticed that the Intrigue function of spies is almost useless. Every time one of my spies claims someone's about to DoW someone else, nothing actually happens. Same goes for when other leaders tell me their intrigue. "So-and-so is about to declare war on you, blah...
My game is atrociously laggy, especially on later turns. Often times when I click on a unit, nothing happens. If I click on the unit, then start talking to another leader, then exit, it often switches successfully. It sounds like you could have the same problem, so I'd try that. Is your game...
I generally annex now, since the science penalty is there either way. But if you're going to annex, don't do it right away! Puppet first, until the city stops resisting. Then annex, and preferably rush buy a courthouse. That way, you never annex a resisting city (that can't build anything...
Typically I find myself with only 4-5 spaces between each of my cities, but you're all raising some pretty good points about how that limits cities' ability to work tiles. Might have to try some wider spacing next game! When you settle 7+ tiles apart, do you still connect with roads/railrads?
I voted no. Definitely first-tier, but not OP. Basically, like others are saying, they can do anything pretty well, as opposed to one thing really really well. That's why the AI tends to be a runaway civ when it's Poland: the AI can't prioritize single VCs very well, let alone beeline specific...
First off, the discussion here is awesome. Interesting stuff, and you all are clearly a lot brighter than me at this AI stuff :) That said, I think there's some pretty easy fixes that could be made that would make the AI significantly better without (I don't think) increasing turn times too...
