Pretty sure tech tree shuffle will be standard for me. Haven't even bothered trying out the other two modes...looking forward to the allegedly more historical modes coming in the future.
Love the updates thus far on my first playthrough...the tech/civic randomizer is great. Just wish the natural wonder picker didn't have to be checked each time.
In my opinion, the diplomatic favor penalty should only apply if you are the one to take that capital city by force. Capitals gained via loyalty flipping or conquered from a third party shouldn't count.
Initial government plaza plus each building within it grants a governor title, so that's 4 governor titles right there. Not to mention the inherent benefits of each building and the unlocking of the government legacy cards. The government plaza also provides higher district adjacency bonuses...
I've always been of the opinion that the current iteration of Civ is the best Civ, once the new version comes out I've never been able to go back to the previous one.
I believe extreme levels of unhappiness lead to improvements being destroyed (not pillaged but removed from the map). However I can't find any documentation of this and you don't seem to be alerted to improvements being destroyed.
This was happening in only one city, which was at 5 unhappiness...
+1 to the first person who releases a mod that disables the fantasy natural wonders.
Other then that, looks good and looking forward to splitting my time with this and Old World.
I'm okay with the world being flat and constrained, it makes sense for the scope and scale of the game. Some sort of off screen foreign trade mechanic would be awesome and a less jarring transition graphically would be appreciated.
Just my 0.02 on the wonder races...I like the way Old World does it. Once you invest all of your resources and plop that wonder down, you're guaranteed to get it. I HATE having my wonder sniped with 1 turn to go. The race to accumulate the resources necessary, especially on higher difficulty...
When you anchor a transport unit, there should be a white border that shows up on the water tiles that shows the transports "range". You should then be able to move land units through those water tiles.
Awesome! The giant models have really been bugging me...gonna get this installed ASAP and can't wait to see what else modders come up with for this game!
To buy tiles, move a worker to an unclaimed tile that's adjacent to your current borders and it will show as an option in the workers actions. Costs orders and gold IIRC.
