    Britain Europe's most peaceful country?

The thing is London has a homicide rate of 1.6 per 100K compared to Amsterdams 4.4 and Brussels 3, even the worse boroughs in London, Lewisham is only 2.5, so the greater London argument is somewhat false.

    Britain Europe's most peaceful country?

The statistics seem to be pointing that way, especially England & Wales :D % change in total recorded crime Of course this represents the direction, not the overall figures, but interesingly London (Britian's most violent place) has a lower homicide rate than Brussels and Amsterdam

    Political Correctness Help

When I was at school we used to calll a blackboard a blackboard, now they have to find another name for it, because apparently its offensive! Sometimes I think people confuse being politically correct with showing respect for others though, whoever they are. So not using certain terms is not...

Two bomb blasts during the Boston Marathon

Wihat is a weapon of mass destruction? If it is a weapon that when it goes off will likely harm more than a single target (person in this case), then these bombs would fit that definition.

Why people are celebrating the death of Thatcher

Good points, while Thatcher was bad for Britain, the Unions were not much better. When I was first employed in a full time job in 1984, I was told by the management that I had to join the union, it was a closed shop arrangement, now illegal. Also at the time there where no secret ballots...

Why people are celebrating the death of Thatcher

The irony is that many of those celebrating today are the same ones (or have the same mindeset as) who caused so much grief for the Labour Party that they allowed her tos tay in power so long.

Why people are celebrating the death of Thatcher

In 1997 I celebrated when the Tories where kicked out, I see nothing to celebrate in Thatchers death. In 1989 I celebrated Caecescu's fall from power which included his death. EDIT : I am not comparing the two, one was a democratically elected politician, the ohther a murderous communist dictator

    Thatcher and her legacy

One think about Thatcher is she was lucky in who her enemies were, the IRA, Scargill, the early 80s Labour Party and Galtieri and his Junta I think overall that her supporters give her too much credit and her detractors to much blame

    Maggy Thatcher dead

Never voted for her, happy when she was kicked out, but the time to celibrate was 1990 and possibly 1997 not today. I think she did more damage then good overall though.
