Did your reinstall go ok? Seems like corrupted data.

Nope, no problems, I would make sure it is actually on 1.2.4 (there was a 2nd patch that seems to have downloaded again yesterday but version stay at 1.2.3) and you have the right DLCs installed if you are using cloud saves from PC.

Just see the patch came out on PC and updated my Switch version, which is now 1.2.4 from 1.2.3
This is a free update for all users, not just owners of the DLC season pass. If patch didn;t auto-download, you can force it to download by hitting "+" and selecting software update via the Internet...

No it does not affect the science progress. You can hit "-" button and cycle through it and see your progress

Probably a memory leak somewhere.
All I can relate is my experience. Last fall.the game did crash more often. My autosave settings were always for 10 turns. Now doesn't crash frequently. Already turn 50 of my next huge map game, no crashes
So 709 odd turns with 1 crash
