WoW is what my wife plays...I've pretty much stopped and gone almost exclusively back to Civ 4. No spears from me!

I haven't tried it, but honestly I think that is a bit unbalancing. You could use those right into the end of the game to unload an army of modern armor with no regard for cultural borders. I imagine that will get "fixed" in a future patch.

At equivalent named difficulty levels I have observed this to be true. Bear in mind the AIs have a lot more penalties at the higher levels than they used to, so even without new features and different AI, just applying those would likely slow down the tech rate of the AI. I like it so far...
