Actually, the latest version (the one named Warhammer : Heart of Chaos) is compatible with 3.19. That is probably your problem. Also, if you do not have Fall Further installed, you may experience another problem. Look in the download thread for a solution in that case.

When running Esus, if you have the holy city, you also get to see every city in the world that has the CoE religion. And since you can spread it very easily to anyone you have open borders with, that means you have some very nice reports of large parts of the world.

I have tweaked and removed and tried and tried... and finally I managed to fix the maps so they would not crash. The ctds are caused by flames. Just remove every one of them from the map, either in the worldbuilder or a good old text editor, and the maps work !

Ah, Here is the problem. Normally when it wants to spread into your Empire, you get an event with a chance to refuse. It causes several turns of unrest in the city it wanted to spread in, but it stays out. But instead here you went and brought them in ! ;)

I prefer Blue Marble myself, it is smoother and I find it more restful to my eyes :)

Are you trying to play the scenarios ? I have the same problem, but only with the scenarios, generated maps work just fine.

I would say Ashen Veil is the strongest, as in the strongest militarily. It's tied with the order for best heroes, has very offensive priests, and sacrifice the weak allows for a lot of production... Although the specific elf+leaves combo is probably even stronger, but that is for two...

Well, the problem seems to be that you can use an early strength 4 unit in ways the AI has trouble to counter. Which is not surprising. You can do the same with Lucian by the way (although he is slower), or if you get hunters from a lucky early goodie hut (many nations start with exploration)...
