5 Secret projects you can't live without.

Cloning vats makes power and though control penalty-free. Don't know how you guys play, but when I have cloning vats, I immediately take off in a huge surge of power that can't be stopped. The power graph goes practically vertical for my faction, and then again after I built Hab domes...

5 Secret projects you can't live without.

I can live without those early projects, since command nexii and perimeter defenses are cheap and quick to build and you dont need every city to build troops. But the weather paradigm is irreplaceable, and its effects last the entire game. Priceless project, that is. If I don't get it, I...

5 Secret projects you can't live without.

Yeah, if I'm morgans, Merchant exchange is almost a requirement. With an easy switch to "wealth," that city will be pumping out ridiculous energy at an early stage in the game.

So I tried a game as Morganites on Transcend and...

Is saving and reloading a million times before getting unity pods cheating? :P That's one sure fire way of getting a huge advantage in transcend.

My take on what really happens in the SMAC world, based on tech/project/bldng quotes

This isn't based on any actual gameplay experiences, just the quotes. They reveal a lot of indisputable facts about the canon storyline, such as the Gaians conquering the Spartans with mind worms, the victory being achieved by Diedre via Transcendence, and the defeat/obscurity of Yang, Miriam...

5 Secret projects you can't live without.

If you had to pick 5 and only 5 secret projects you cannot live without, list them here and why. Ascent to Transcendance not included since that ends the game. #1 - Weather Paradigm. Obvious choice. The sheer amount of stuff you can do with formers is amazing, and the more, the better...

My take on what really happens in the SMAC world, based on tech/project/bldng quotes

Hey everyone. I've been thinking about this for the longest time and I finally wanted to get it out there. I'm not sure if someone has already done this, and believe me I've searched for it. But if you play SMAC enough to memorize all the quotes from techs, projects, and buildings, you start to...

Sengoku Jidai (Japan) Mod (in-progress with pics)

Sounds like you really know your sengoku period history! I'm looking forward to this if it's well-designed. I like how Takeda is Bismarck :P

    AI-controlled nation cashflow

Civ 5 is one of the worst offenders for "the computer is a cheating bastard" trope. It is not restricted by the confines of needing happiness or money for anything. It's a cheap, fake difficulty way of making up for the fact that the AI is about as intelligent as a tree stump.

    [FIXED] CTD on turn 483

Nope, the most any single civ has is 25 cities.

    [FIXED] CTD on turn 483

I have a big game that was way fun until an inevitable crash on turn 322. I searched the forums for a solution, so I tried the various solutions. I just did this: 1) Uninstalled Civ5 2) Uninstalled all graphic/sound drivers 3) Installed the most recent graphic/sound drivers with restarts when...

World War II: Pacific Theatre in progress - Recruiting a modder (maps in thread)

I can buy that. Yeah, average surface speed of the best subs was around 20kt. But figured for gameplay reasons they might be useless if too slow, but being invisible sure helps.

World War II: Pacific Theatre in progress - Recruiting a modder (maps in thread)

Das: That sounds great. The map file is proving to be a monumental time sink in terms of the amount of work and tweaking needed, so I can just hold onto that for now and receive mod components. Lord: Yes I agree with those. Except I think allowing more than 74 turns would be nice. What I...
