Mad Scientist Role Play Challenge: The American Cowboy.

Yeah, I'm a little peeved about the $50 price point, considering how much I've paid for all the various Valve games after sales ($10 for L4D Bundle). Its just sad that I'd like to go back to Civ 4, if only because of the great mods (Rhyes and Fall, Legends of Rev). I still haven't played a...

    An Intellectual Discussion About Leaders

Mongols: Leaders: Genghis Khan Power: Yassa: -50% Unhappiness from Occupied Population, and # of Occupied Cities Unique Unit: Keshik: Knight with a 2 range an 16 Str Bow, and a 14 Str Melee Unique Building: Ger: Stable that provides +15xp to Mounted units Considering the current strength of...

    An Intellectual Discussion About Leaders

Temudjin is still angry about his empire not being included in Civ 5. If you thought Companion cavalry were strong, could you imagine a Civ 5 Keshik? One leader per civ is kinda irritating. But George Washington is the most popular US president according to modern polls, and Bismark is...

The fun thing about the +1 Science per Trading Post, is that with a university, it makes Jungles absolutely rediculous, with 2 (?) food, 3 Science, and 2 Gold. If you have 3-4 of those jungle tiles, you can make a strong Science city.

Rampaging City State! (or... conquering without declaring war)

You should have said Kabul, to be more realistic, but still a good joke Mr. President.

    Swordsmen and Catapults: who cares?

And make iron revealed at bronze working. So Swordsmen get more love.

Mad Scientist Role Play Challenge: The American Cowboy.

Catapults have rediculous strength, more than double that of the archer. And if you get it into range before the war starts, you can set up and fire on the same turn. You don't even need to put it in range of the city to start with, as it destroys all ground units, allowing even a warrior to...

Mad Scientist Role Play Challenge: The American Cowboy.

I'm pretty sure Horsemen are better than Swords, if the enemy doesn't have spears. Maybe sell some of the Iron to make him build swords rather than spears. However, if you trade for a luxury, you set off a bug that will give you tons of iron. Venice needs to be punished, take them down first...

What do you garrison your cities with?

Catapults in a city would be so hard to take down in that era. You would need a ton of units to approach the city. But I have yet to have to defend a city yet, so onto the aggresive again!

What to do with Great Generals?

It seems that the quick assault of Civ 4 doesn't seem as important. With the improved value of rough terrain, you're better off just setting up outside of the AI base, and then letting them come to you. Since War Weariness, and supply costs are gone, the time your in war is less of an issue...

    Favorite Social Policy trees?

So IRL, it would be damn near impossible for the US to achieve a cultural victory, because its go so many ciities? I just feel like its too heavily punishing to empires that do even a little bit of warring. In order to win culture, you have to mostly forgo REXing and just play with 1-4 cities...

[FIXED] Traded horses expires, resources readded turn after turn (over 9000 horses!)

And another save here, had 10 horses from cancel deals on Bismark, and kept selling them for gold. I only have 4 horses hooked up. Save:

    Favorite Social Policy trees?

I really hope they begin reducing the exponential growth of Social Policy cost, this is just ridiculous. I'm playing a France game with representation, and each city only serves to put me further back in culture.
