Revolution Meter for Civ 7 (or a Mod idea)

Empires rose and fell throughout history. Yet Civilization gameplay focuses primarily in empire building. Once the empire builds up, the game has hardly any checks to control the expansion. This idea attempts to add a challenge to big empire. The Revolution Meter can go up depending on many...

If there is ever a new Civ IV expansion, what new leader traits do you want to see?

For me, I would like to see Maritime and Nomads. In the game, Ragnar, Joao II and Willem van Oranje (and a few others) are leaders of civilizations that have historical maritime traditions, but they themselves have generic traits. The Civ4 navy is underwhelming. In Civ6, naval units can...

What puts you off Civ VI?

With each iteration of CIV, the variability between civilizations goes up. Civ IV has the unique unit and unique building and the two leader traits from the trait pool, while CIV VI is like playing a different game when picking a different leader. I prefer CIV IV for consistency and competition.

    Samurai

Drill line promotions are neat when facing units that deal collateral damage. However I would say the Combat line is more universal. More often than not the enemies I encounter have units that are immune to first strikes (knights or cavalry with flanking 2).

Will there ever be a market for Civ IV remake?

I would like a remake with an expansion built in. Remake is different than a remaster. Remake is having the original game and adding some additional game features. Better graphics and enhanced optimization while important, are secondary. I can see the civ4 remake combines some elements of...

The battle rng can be infuriating some time

The random aspect of battles can be infuriating, but I think it's better game design than deterministic behavior. Quantity itself is a strategy. The side with more hammers given similar tech tend to win in the long run.

Earth 18, always war, conquest only

I played a test game recently on Deity Marathon with Raging Barbs as Incans and I built the Great Wall. I gave the barbs the starting techs (Archery, Wheels, Hunting and Agriculture). By 1 AD, Russia, Persia, India, China, Mongolia, Egypt, Mali, America were wiped off the map. Germany...

[BTS] Deity Conquest Win at 20BC - The Power of the Marathon Whip!

Quecha rush is possibly the easiest rush on deity. You may need luck to get to the last AI before they hook up their metals/horses.

[GS] Going for Science, but always win Culture by accident

The suggestions thus far are to build fewer Theaters districts or dont settle Writers, Artists and Musicians. I feel like that is playing the game sub optimally. One reason I have about 75% theater districts is to keep up the civic tree with the science tree and dig up the sites that block my...

The battle rng can be infuriating some time

Yep. I forgot Scouts can only defend in Civ4. Although reload with new random seed can take a long time. If you know in advance that you can win a 10% roll, you'll be creating legions of super units.

[GS] Going for Science, but always win Culture by accident

This is on King difficulty. I find myself always winning culture before finishing all the space projects. The best science game I had so far was getting the last step building the projects for Lagrange lasers. I build the Royal Society and use Builders to rush projects every turn and I have 3...

The battle rng can be infuriating some time

Don't you just wish to know the actual threshold before the battle begin? For example, if the next roll attack requires a 95% threshold to win, and you don't have a unit that has such high win chance, then you suicide a scout. The next roll is a 55% to win, then you send in your city raiding 3...

Do you play other Civilization games?

I still play Civ4 here and there.

Scrolling on the Great Works screen

I wish they add the feature where you can filter by building type (amphitheaters, art museums, archaeological museums, broadcast towers, temples, stock exchanges and wonders) and sort by city. It is very very hard to get a theming bonus when the museums are two screens away from each other.

Features you would NOT like to see repeated in Civ 7

Same here. Builder with charges means less clutter on the map and less micromanagement.
