Let's not derail this thread into yet another "Civ 4 vs Civ 5" debate  But basically, Civ 5 is less challenging and stressful, and sometimes you just want to play something like that.
Recently I'm playing with no tech trading, definitively changes the game and makes it more like Civ 5 (the good part of it). It's like playing mini-marathon, everyone is slower because you have to tech everything by yourself rather than trade 5 techs a turn, and it starts making sense to build a...
As everyone pointed out (and also in my post linked above, which I tried to make clearer: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/beaker-overflow.624745/), the beaker overflow can't be gamed so it makes absolutely no difference if you end up with big or small overflow. However it might be a good...

Well it's all about fun and doing something different, not especially effective. But yeah, every time I try to musketman rush I am brutally reminded of how crap they are.
Edit: The values (0,3 multiplier) is for deity. On noble it's 0,21.

Well not really a beeline, but archer+catapult is "fun" to try once (if you like this kind of fun). Going Chukonu rush with china is also fun (protip: in case you don't have metal and can't trade for it, just use the world builder). Or cataphract rush with the byzantine (there's a not so old...
