    Quick Questions and Answers

I have noticed a common pattern throughout most of the longer, larger games I’ve played. I usually play marathon, huge maps, continents, 10-15 civs and minimum of 5 city states. Difficulty levels I play are in the mid range, never very high but always above chieftain. I usually play as...

    [vanilla] Civilization Guide: America (vanilla)

I was always a casual Civ IV player, never really progressed beyond the mid-level difficulties and even then didn’t always have great luck winning. With this guide (and others) I feel like I can take my preferred Civ, which is usually America, and advance myself to the higher level difficulties.

    Continents or pangea?

I usually play on continents and when it comes to military campaigns, I’ve usually explored the oceans as quickly as I can and am able to gain a foothold on the other continent fairly quickly. Usually am able to start three or four cities, and then I put some hefty military power there. In my...

    Honor and barbarian

I always have a few archers or spearmen roaming around to clip barbarian camps so I can get money. I use the money to buy buildings (once I’m able). Or buy a settler when I’m ready. I don’t do it for long but it’s kind of nice when I’ve knocked off some camps and have a couple thousand in gold...

A city state kicked ITSELF out of the game

That’s interesting. I have played through a handful of long games in Civ V so far and I haven’t seen a CS take anything from a Civ yet.

Civ 5 more popular than Civ 6

I played IV for years and years as just some guy who had discovered the Civ games. I’m not what you’d call a gamer. Former military intel, prepper, survivalist, shooter, outdoorsman, etc. BUT... I love history. Found Civ IV and got hooked. Then at some point I looked deeper into the games and...

    Quick Questions and Answers

Well I guess that’s pretty realistic since most national and world bodies love to BAN things all the time. Usually by the time I get to the point of the WC/UN, I’m allies with the city states and have enough delegates myself that I can generally use some trading to get what I want passed or...

    Quick Questions and Answers

That really sucks. In Civ IV you could keep going. If I start another game and disable the diplomatic victory, will the World Congress/UN still happen with the proposals and votes, just without the “World Leader” sessions occurring?

    Quick Questions and Answers

Playing a game on Civ V and I won the diplomatic victory a while ago. Been playing “just one more turn” for about a hundred turns or so. Been building spaceship parts but when I transport them to my capital, nothing happens. Civilopedia says as soon as a piece gets into my capital, it’ll ask if...

    Quick Questions and Answers

Ok, I see. So if I was to have one of the swordsmen killed, or both, would I be able to get more iron again from that mine and produce more swordsmen? Or is that mine completely done producing iron permanently?

    Quick Questions and Answers

Been a long time since I’ve played Civ IV, so I bought Civ V. Been playing for a few days and I’m in a game, early on, I build a mine on an iron producing tile. I quickly get 2 iron, shortly after I upgrade two warriors to swordsmen. All good so far. Except that I am now many many turns past...

Best Civ to simulate global domination?

As mentioned, the "Earth 18 Civs" map is what you want. Turn off the "lame" victory conditions like culture and time. Choose America (it'll be Roosevelt) as your civ. You'll be fairly isolated on the North American continent, so you should be fairly safe for the most part to research your tech...

    Where to go next?

I also usually prefer slow progression but that's because I often try to avoid military conflict until I'm at a point where I almost can't lose the war. In your position I favor aggressive approach. Take out Isabella as soon as you feel like you won't leave yourself too weakened after.

    Destroying Spaceship BTS

I would assume that if a civ has launched their spaceship, and you take control on their capital, then you could theoretically gain remote command and control (C2) of the ship, since everyone on it is cryogenically frozen. I guess it's on autopilot but I'm sure there is some sort of...

    What makes you ragequit?

I've quit many games for various reasons, usually boredom with whatever scenario was happening. I rage quit one time, though I guess I can't call it a real rage quit because I wasn't mad. Just a bit confused. I was playing earth 18 civs and I was America. Very shortly into the game (I had...
