Right after you unlock the social policy in question. (e.g., Choosing Tradition (social policy) will unlock Aristocracy, Legalism, Oligarchy. Choosing Legalism in turn will unlock both Land Elite and Monarchy. Choose all 5 then you've completed the Tradition Tree.)
Shmike's right. You don't need an Alt game.. :) But for me, I can't play just one game, I get bored too easily - today i play this, tomorrow that.. etc. if there's no work, I'll prolly play 2 hours of this and 2 of that and then RL with friends and then another 2hours of this, and that, etc.
lovely first post.
OP: the strategy only works for choke points. If you had another enemy facing another area or when you invade another continent, you couldn't use this tactic. Unless, there was another choke point there... and another to the north, and south of your empire. :) Otherwise...
So how do we take a clean screenshot? Like the ones the devs kept on posting before the game was released - screenshots without all the interface, city names, numbers, etc.. just pure map, city, units - that screenshot.
Thanks, Happy new year.

Insignificant Note: Civilization III was great! The game stole a significant amount of my time back 4 years ago. I did not play Civ 4. Everything was new to me. But now Civ5 captured me again. I just wanted to share this very short gameplay.
