    Is this game winnable????

Looks eminently winnable to me via diplomatic, domination, or science victory. City spacing could be a bit better and the cities definitely need to be bigger. Personally, I would wipe out the Chinese ASAP (get artillery), puppet their cities, grow your main cities and then decide if you want...

    Your Best Civilisation (Game Played)

My best game will be ... my next game. ;) Seriously though, after putting the game down for nine months (too buggy), I decided to give it another shot about a month ago. I always play on huge continents, low sea level, default (12) civs, 28 CS. Won my first two games (King, then Emperor)...

    Wanted: Advice for Wide Empires

As stated already, for a wide empire it's all about happiness management. IMO the best way is to figure out what the average sustainable city size is based on your current availability of happiness affecting policies and buildings. Luxuries will only have a significant impact during the early...

    Diplomacy by numbers - spreadsheet

Yeah, Ghandi finished the Manhattan Project in 1655 in my last game (Immortal, huge map), WTF!! OP: Great info. Thank you for posting. l8r)

I think I know why Civ V isn't fun (compared to Civs I-IV)

I found happiness much more difficult to manage in Civ III and IV. My 70 city game is on Prince, huge map, continents, standard speed, full set of Civs. I own one entire continent, with about 10 cities on the 'other' continent :) and was about to mop up the rest of the planet. About a 30/70...

Thank you Civ5 for curing my civ addiction !

It's just you. I've been in the IT industry for over 20 years, have developed software, built enterprise-class intercontinental networks, distributed systems, build and troubleshoot my own PCs, bla bla bla. The bottom line is that the release of Civ 5 has been, for me, the biggest...

I think I know why Civ V isn't fun (compared to Civs I-IV)

To answer your questions: 1. No, managing a large empire in Civ 5 is easier than in previous Civ's. Unfortunately there are some stability issues, maybe even a hard cap on how many cities you can have. In my second game I had a 70 city empire, but could not go to 71, as the game would crash...

Thank you Civ5 for curing my civ addiction !

Wish I could say that it was the lame AI or other game issues that cured my Civ addiction, but what cured it for me is that I haven't been able to finish a single game. What's really sad is that even if they do fix the stability issues with the game, it looks like I'll probably end up playing...

Info on Upcoming Patches from Jon Shafer

Amen brotha! Civ 5 shelved for now. Maybe they'll get it stable enough by 2011 for me to actually be able to finish a game. I find Jon's comment's quite amusing. Reads like a typical developer's litany - all about new features, cool this, cool that - no mention of actually addressing...

    Unacceptable crashes

Add one more to the list. I've had the game for two weeks, and have attempted a whopping two games. Both huge maps, 12 civs. First game crashed around turn 289 - same scenario on two different machines, two different OS, both CPU using HW easily capable of running the game. So DAYS worth of...
