I think somehow you've got to avoid the AI civs as long as possible in diety. The only diety I won on was begun in the future era, pangea, huge map, marathon, conquest victory only. AI civs in the future era did not contact me unless they were close, so by avoiding them, I was able to avoid wars...

I voted other: add chemical and biological weapons, and a penalty if they are used, similar to nuclear weapons.

Another solution: go after the Democracy policy in Freedom that gives half unhappiness per specialist, then when you raise a city, remove workers from all tiles, which cancels out a lot of the unhappiness due to that city's population. Also, don't forget to sell a building each turn.

Until Civ 6 is in the works, I think they will continue developing Civ 5.

Pangea - I get to meet all civs early in the game, trade with them, etc. Water slows things down too much. Also it allows AI to wage wars better, especially against other AI civs, since it doesn't have to deal with naval invasions.

I try to start off peacefully, without conquest in mind. However, it seems you must develop some kind of army to defend yourself. Also, because it seems necessary to stay ahead in tech, I find my army becoming more advanced than others, and, well, with such an advantage, I eventually send them...

I think the game is fine as it is. If I get bored with it or see a great need to go with a mod, then I would do it.

Most often it is "march" for me! I prefer to attack using the best health possible.

I usually fill most of liberty first, then tradition as needed.

Nope... I like domination victory because it combines science and diplomacy, and if done right, you can avoid being a war mongerer and amass a huge empire.

I agree... China for the military support.
