Also very excited to have ZtC. I must say that if I can ZtC it is the only way I move the map. I zoom out quickly, move the mouse to where I want to go and then zoom in (adjusting the mouse as I am zooming in to zoom exactly where I want to go). Once you get really good at you can move your view...
In Civ 4, pitboss allows for a very long turn limit so it is essentially as laid back as PBEM.
You can also disable simultaneous turns and have automatic email reminders with pitboss.
I would also like to join in this game. My time zone is GMT -9. If you guys would like, I could host a Pitboss server for this game. I would like to play as France as I am intrested in taking as much advantage of the new social policy system as possible.

I like this idea. As Dale mention we would definitely need someone manage the overall project.
Another thing which I think is important is the ability for the creator of a branch to limit those who have editing rights along a branch. Other branches can of course merge any branch into their own...
I have a hunch that maps will be much larger and the minimum distance between cities will be greater. This will give room for large sprawling battles on the landscape. This will also help balance the increased unit movement.
We have been working on the mod for about 6 months with a team of about 8 major contributers to the mod as well as some more minor ones.
The mod is far from complete but we hope have an initial release after we get rid of most of the major bugs and iron some things out so that it is somewhat...
