The worlds two largest EVER empires not in game??

The British Empire and the English Empire are intertwined to the extent it's hard to include both.

    computerandvideogames.com Review September, 20th

You may wish to rethink your thread title. Can't help reading that as Civ V scording 9 out of 20. :D It doesn't help that the date's written in reverse order to a lot of the world's own convention.

The most agonizing Monday of your lives

I'm in England. I go off to University on Friday. Will have lots of free time there, but I'm sure most of it will be spent socialising.

Choose civ after seeing start location

Although there was many a game where I'd be playing Persia and find myself nowhere near horses.

Choose civ after seeing start location

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9553042 In the advanced setup options there is a tick box "disabled start bias". He doesn't hover over it though, so no details provided with the video itself. EDIT: And a big hint - http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=998293#post998293

    How will wonders/social policies/buildings/UAs stack?

The manual is self-contradicting then. I think I see where you're referencing: "Effects: A Russian Unique Building, it increases the City’s cultural border growth by +50%. Also, the Krepost provides +15 XP for all new Land Units" But later on in the manual it clearly says: "A Russian...

Answer to people who wondered why 2K use Steam even for retail...

It definitely a working copy? It might just be the disk image or something else equally useless. Usually when a top title gets pirated pre-release there'll be news articles about it.

Answer to people who wondered why 2K use Steam even for retail...

o/ It's nice not to have to moderate discussions here. :D Valve get money from the sales. It's actually a pretty good business model. Publishers/developers are able to get a far greater fraction of the sales revenue than they typically would through retail channels. This is attracts...

Answer to people who wondered why 2K use Steam even for retail...

I was going to say I suppose there's less of a reason to go after stores who break the street date, because the game's still not accessible. I guess there are other reasons though. A store breaking release date is still giving itself an advantage over other outlets because people won't realise...

    How will wonders/social policies/buildings/UAs stack?

Pentagon one's not so bad because you're still limited to having units to upgrade. It would allow you to spam unit production though; build the cheapest upgradeable unit and upgrade it to something top tier, reducing production time. Pentagon is also fairly late-game. Free tiles would be a...

    How will wonders/social policies/buildings/UAs stack?

England can potentially get +4 movement (3 for embarked units) and +2 line of sight (+3 for Ship of the Line), as far as I can tell. England would be a force to be reckoned with if they lie across the ocean from you.

    How will wonders/social policies/buildings/UAs stack?

There are many overlaps between these different branches, allowing for powerful combinations. A lot of them don't pose a problem of how the mechanic will work because they offer increases of outputs, which can be stacked indefinitely. Some, however, provide decreases to the necessary inputs...
