Is Gods and Kings worth it?

I was going to mention the Summer Sale. Yeah, it just came out, but you never know with those Steam sales. As an expansion and depending on the sales trend, they may figure that the full price buyers have bought and lower the price enough to juice it. I've seen some crazy things there (and I...

    Roads-Can I use them sparingly?

Trade routes give you gold per turn for connection to the capital. You don't need a trade route to get resources.

    So...we Texans are "unhappy"?

Actually, 2 unhappy per city is nontrivial and does change things. I'm not sure how the example holds up. 36 > 30 by 20%.

    So...we Texans are "unhappy"?

I agree, although I can say with some certainty that the people of San Francisco wish that Los Angeles didn't exist. And as for Texas, I think if anything they probably don't care too much one way or another about other states' cities ;)

    Making Civ5 more fun

Okay, now THAT was funny. :rotfl::clap:

    Making Civ5 more fun

Huh. Refile under "I'm an idiot and didn't even notice that". Of course I haven't been playing like a junkie as I did previous Civs so not as much chance to see them, but still, big oops. I still hold to my other suggestions though. :D

    Making Civ5 more fun

Here are a few that would be really easy or at least very straightforward to implement. They would require no playtesting/balancing, and in most cases would be trivial to implement. -Bring back the Wonder completion movies, and/or make new ones. -Make the era transition graphics more...

Let's Talk About Babylon: How This Civ Ought to Look

I love the painting, who's it by? If it's of Daniel in the lions' den though, I think that was Darius who put him there. :)

    How is the Civilopedia biased?

Forgive me, but your two posts sound a bit like you're trying to stir a pot. It's a bit close to "So I have this friend..." Personally, I think it's biased against people who don't have all of the game info memorized and actually need it for game-related knowledge. Edit: Not that I'd be...

art budget v. programming (game development) budget

Don't forget the missing wonder movies, underwhelming era screens, and lack of endgame graphics. Love those rivers though. A lot of the art in this game actually feels unfinished to me. Maybe they ran out of budget; they certainly didn't seem to have it for testing. I actually preferred...

    Civ V Haikus

I don't subscribe to the hate, but you gotta go where the music takes you: There was a designer named Sid Who made great games, really he did! But with Rev and now this Seems he's taking a piss On the game we've loved since we were kids. :goodjob: Two thousand and ten A Winter of discontent...

    The save / load trick?

Indeed that's the only upside to the long load times; I'm dissuaded from reloading even when I get really unlucky.

    Stacks of Doom are great!

Again, the argument isn't between 1UPT and stacks, it's between 1UPT and SOD. As has been mentioned, SOD != stacks (rather SOD instanceof stack :) ). I like 1UPT, and I like small stacks. 1UPT is not really ideal for strategic games on maps this small, it's too "horizontal", but SOD was too...

    Civ V Haikus

It was actually even funnier to me when I thought you were referring to the Greek Homer!

    Civ V Haikus

(going with diamond => di-mond... leave me alone :D Square yields to diamond Finally evolves to hex Grognards are happy. --- Forward stack of doom! Slice through the foe as butter! Pile them up and go! What? 1 U P T? I have to manage a front? Tactics are hard, waaa! --- "Um, fellow...
