I do think I disagree here.. When you say the US has more wonders, I assume you mean the ones counting as wonders in civ. That is Statue of Liberty, Rock'n'Roll, HollyWood, Broadway and the nationals - manhatten project and Mount rushmore. Four wonders, and the last three are quite similar...

There's a lot of reasons not to sign open borders, just 'course you can. You can prevent a fast-expanding civ from settling on that open spot on the other side of your empire. If you are located on a peninsula, with one key city you can claim a lot of free land for yourself. You can also...
