Maybe it's just because I didn't grow up believing in Santa Claus, but I've never understood the appeal of this tradition. The stories are fine, but why would you purposely lie to your kids when you don't have to?? After all, if I buy my kid an Xbox, he's gonna KNOW it came from me! :)

Technology, urbanization, and culture in places where foreigners are most likely to go to. Of course, it's such a huge country that there are severely poor and disadvantaged populations too, but most Americans in China would live in urban areas with foreign exposure.

Around here the organization Harvesters is one that collects leftover food from supermarkets, cakes that have not been sold for example. A group at my church volunteered to hand out food items with them to the poor.
