    Learning Monarch

granary is the single most important building in the game imo :) i had this building addiction too, time is needed to break bad habits though. library (for running specs or oxford), granary, monument (if not CRE), barracks, forge are necessary imo. maybe some temples in some cities too. other...

Can't say that I frequently tech archery, but it happens sometimes when I moved up to IMM level. You can survive with warriors though too. Depends on the map, if there is tundra and ice to one side it's a guaranteed barb spawn spot to annoy you. and sometimes it's just very hard to spawnbust...

    Civ & Map Combo's.

I always just play the map and decide on situation. You can plan to conquer everyone with Rome, but what is your plan's worth if there are no metals and horses around ? :)

hm, BW gives so much flexibility imo. Of course it may not be needed in 3000BC yet, but whipping+chopping it gives are very important. I usually go for it fast if there are no AH resources nearby and at least 5-6 forests. havent made my mind yet on when to go for writing asap ;p to OP: scout...

    Deity conquest 1190 AD

tried this approach, no luck thus far. maybe picked wrong opponents to attack first. managed to do it with non-PHI leader also, ofc my Eng time was no-where near 600 BC, maybe 225-250BC or so. playing Immortal. guess it takes lots of practice to be successful.

    do you see any problems?

i would have settled a city 1SE from copper - really quite nice place when you'll get CS. it is really important for you to get this tech ASAP imo, to chain-irrigate that grassland. there are many options for city placement imo, needs a lot of thinking :)

settling ravenna there imo is a mistake.

Help me become a better civ player!

cavalry is very good but you need to plan your war to end quickly. AI getting rifling really hurts though ;p

Help me become a better civ player!

don't think that choosing civ with imba early UU will help you to improve your game a lot :) i almost always settle cities nearby, due to maintenance costs. you can try searching for perfect spot or block some land somewhere, but it can just kill your early progress very quickly. it's just too...

    Immortal University 64 - Victoria

it's harder than Emp but not really THAT harder. you should give it a go though. but IU63 has much better starting surroundings imo than this one. didnt like this map at all.

    moving from emperor to immortal

it is really hard not to trade techs for gold when some AI has several hundreds to spare :) but I'm not sure is it always a good idea.

this map is a b*tch to me, tried 3x but couldn't gain decisive advantage.

    moving from emperor to immortal

yup my tech path is similar. aesthetics->literature->currency. i may skip literature if there are no marble around and there is no way i can chop it quickly. usually AI gets currency a bit later and are unwilling to trade it freely. btw one thing that helped me immensely was to stop trading...

What difficulty level do you play on? Poll

Currently trying to constantly win on Immortal. Not the case so far, tend to screw up starts with careless play. Would be interesting to try Emperor again to see if I improved at all :D
