SMAC had a good storyline to it. The characters, story text, quotes and especially the secret project videos gave an immersion to the game that was more than simply playing a builder game - even when I picked SMAC back up so many years later I still enjoyed those features despite the very aged...
When I saw the Civ V special on the steam store, I was hoping to see that they also had the DLC marked down, but that is still mostly the same price at this time with one small exception.
I only voted yes in terms of a WWII scenario. It just didn't seem right to have a different German leader in the CIV 4 (BTS?) WWII scenario.
But I know it isn't going to happen, and I'll live.
It is all very well to want something to be conceptually added, but as a mechanic it has already proved to be problematic. There has to be something more than saying "I want religion in Civ 5" - how do you want it in such a way that it is meaningful and adds to the game play?

Perhaps not so much that there are gaps but that those gaps aren't consistent. Why are there no gaps in the top two, allowing both to be in the top 10/100, with the others only slotting in one for every 10/100 except the lowest 10/100 that has none at all?

I think that is the nail on the head. Certainly I didn't entertain the idea of voting for a game I never even play tested on the basis that I didn't think I would like the console conversion as a Civ game.
I could imagine that if each and every person voting in this thread had in fact played...
I voted Civ 4 vanilla, but I can't help but feel that part of the reason why I liked it more from the start was because Civ 3 never engaged me and I was more inclined to accept Civ 4 vanilla flaws and all right at the start.
Meanwhile for Civ 5, I still have Civ 4 BTS to look back upon as...
As the DLC builds up, we could see DLC packs at a marked down total price. I'm inclined to wait and see. I don't miss the Babylonians enough to pay $5 for them alone at this point.
It was suggested in one of the pre-release interviews that the lower difficulty levels would have a number of options available to the AI, and the higher difficulty levels would further refine its selection of options. But this is far from saying that the higher difficulty level AI would be...
