High Scores Seem Possibly Easier Than Past Civ Games

I got 69000 in my second game :P

69000 points in my second game :P

Is 69000 a lot? It seems like a lot, but I've only played 3 games. I just messed around on my first game, and on my second I played as Ghandi on a small planes map and, without even planning to, got a conquest victory by 25BC. I am still tickled by that: a CONQUEST by GHANDI... I...

    The AI cheated!!! - maps

I knew they know where all the resources were, but if they knew the whole map from the start, why did they wait 4000 years until I found the island before inhabiting it?

    The AI cheated!!! - maps

Maybe I'm just ignorant - it has been a while since I've been to the forums - but I didn't think the AI would be this cheap. I had killed all but two civs in the game, and they were way behind me in technology. I traded maps but no-one had explored some of the ocean. I built an ironclad and...

Computer cheats? With no iron or salt peter AI builds infintry and marines?!?!?

I thought I was so damn smart when I bombarded and destroyed the roads to Egypt's only supply of salt peter. Then he started making marines. I know he has no more salt peter, but to be sure I started a trade dialogue with him. Yes, he wants my salt peter, and my iron. So then how the hell is...

v1.16f: Issues? Bugs? This is the thread

Are you collecting a list of bugs not fixed in the patch? I've run into a bunch and don't know if I should start a new thread for them or what. For instance, if I play against the max number of civs, not all of them are represented in the advisor screen. When I kill one, it goes away but is...

    No score for future tech

In cheiftain, anyway, you get 0.1 points per future tech. THAT'll rack up your score.

    Random?!?!?!? [open letter to firaxis]

Dear Firaxis, "Random" means unpredictable, not exactly the same every single time. For instance, when I choose "random" for the civilizations I want to play against, it means "I want to play against randomly chosen civilizations," it does not mean "I want to play against the Aztec and...

300 Thank You's for Firaxis, can we do it?!

Thank you for such a great game. Dispite numerous obvious bugs that I can't help but complain about, this game is still addictive. I can't wait for the patches.

    late game lag.

Man, it gets worse. It was taking about 15 minutes a turn (I must have 100 workers, yet not much gets done as 20 pile up in the same square) so I thought I could speed things up by slaughtering all but one or two cities of the last civ. In the process I captured a few dozen workers, now...

    I Want Patch

Don't get your hopes up. A few years ago, after compiling and emailing a huge list of bugs about civ 2, they released a patch that fixed exactly zero of them. But it added the french language. Woo hoo. Later on they released some more civ spin-offs, all with the same bugs we listed.

    Half-assed review

Yeah, that reviewer only played a game or two, but he was right about one thing. No matter how many libraries/universities/research labs/scientists/gnp % into science you have, no matter what, you can never learn a tech in less that 4 turns. If I put 100% of GNP or 20%, I still only get a...

    Most Important Strategic Resource

LOL. I can make modern armor, nuke subs, stealth bombers, even rocketships to other stars, but I can't make a choo choo train cuz I used up the one chunk of coal on the entire planet (huge map).

    late game lag.

I have a 800MHz althlon, 384 MB pc133 cl2 ram, geforce 2 video, and the computer takes 5-15 minutes per turn, and thats just my workers. I can't see any enemy units. Just manually moving a worker from one side of the huge map to another (straight shot along railroads) can take 15 seconds...
