A former Spork checking in on an impressive victory. This appeared to be a very fun map that forced you to think about unusual avenues to victory.
I miss the days where I could play Civ. I'm reduced to checking in every so often while at work. But 2 children under the age of 2 will do that...
I think it was assumed by my absence and lack of replies that I won't be able to join the Sporks on this journey. I do see plenty of familiar faces and new, fresh bodies to take my place though.
Sadly, I don't think I've played any Civ since SGOTM 15 ended and very little prior to that. I...
Without looking at the save I think it is safe to admit defeat here.
Hindsight being what it is...I think going for a cultural victory might have been a strong play here.
Stop conquest at Babylon and Osaka and have those two cities defend us against the hordes.
As it was played, I think...
I'm on board with the plan.
Make a note...the former Eygptian stack is just East of Babylon and may still be on autopilot. They along with the trebs currently in Babylon and other reinforcements should be enough to support a second stack to take out the eastern Zulu cities.
I have the spy...
I also forgot to mention...we have two Great People waiting for orders.
We have a great Spy. Obvious GA use here.
We also have another merchant. In war times, the option of a trade mission goes out the window. I would say to run a Golden Age with them.
I neglected to mention that I went Constitution for the UB that reduces WW and gives two happies. Communism for SP souinds like a good play. Railroad might be nice too eventually for the quicker movement to the front and extra hammers.
Good luck to whomever pkays next.
I played quite a few turns and here is a very quick recap.
Traded Edu to Inca/Mali for 560 gold. Later on traded to Egypt for 500+ as well.
Cyrus suicided his stack on our stack and we were the victors. I took peace as soon as I could for Calendar.
Hammus last two mainland cities were...
On a serious note...what to do with the Great People?
Settle the merchant in our shrine city? It's too dangerous to consider any more trade missions methinks.
Are there any wonders left to rush? My thinking that the Kremlin being built answers that question for me.
Do we have a good...
No worries DS! My presence on the team really only counts as half a player since my gameplay time is really limited. Why can't babies be more interested in gaming??? :)
I took a quick look at the save this morning before work and it was quite insightful. The map looks pretty much like we...
Well I was about to post that I was going to look at the save and post a plan with the intent of playing in 24-48 hours.
I'm not willing to throw in the towel just yet. My very first SG (PeteyP1) was a reversal of fortunes where victory was snagged from the jaws of defeat. So it can still...
Well played nocho. It sounds like it paid off nicely to check with the war council concerning Hatty's DOW.
I'm liking our progress militarilily. It's gonna be a slog, so I say that we should play as long of sets as possible going forward. As long as focus doesn't lapse or we reach some...
I think that if our economy can support a two front war then that should be the plan.
Ultimately, we will finish faster with this setup.
Would we want to use the GG for a second medic in this case?
Perhaps to achieve that happy balance of trebs to maces to archers you should build archers naturally in the medium hammer cities. In the low hammer cities you can 2 pop whip trebs and maces fairly easily. The high hammer cities (DG/Stone Hill) can build trebs and maces naturally without the...
