I agree - Shaka can be very useful. You can reliably sick him on other players for a little coin (e.g., 5 gold / turn). Monty and a few others are also like this. This poisons the diplo well to your advantage.

Tradition is pretty strong for any civ; the other two are circumstantial. I guess with Egypt's unique building there would be some synergy to piety??? Can't see why exploration is particularly suited to them at all.
I think Haiti would be cool, probably with Toussaint L'ouverture as a leader, but I feel their likely UA (but not building or unit) is covered by Ethopia - they fought off several large empires.
