I've noticed that sometimes when I attack a civ, and begin to take a city or two, suddenly their army seems to have disappeared. They must have deleted their units for some reason. That does seem to be a strange way to defend!
When a city is captured, all units within it are destroyed.
Unless the unit is a Builder or a Settler, when they become the property of the captor. (I think this is still true for both, it's certainly still true for Builder).
Excellent guide, btw.
It could be that there is another unit of the same type on the same tile. You need to move one or the other, as only one unit of each type is allowed on one tile.
Hmm... I've not even looked at HoF... didn't seem a lot of point when I had played all the Civs, difficulties, speeds, and sizes, before GS. Might have a look now, see what it does show!
In my current game, Sweden has built a national park (I'm playing Suleiman)... it's not very common, but they do.
I've seen the AI build a few resorts too.
With my new rig:-

Gathering Storm AI test: 34.84 turn time

I would have said that Endless Space 2 is a better game than Total War. I would also say that Total War appeals to less folk than Civ VI.
The best 2 games in the genre at present (imho) are Civ VI and Endless Space 2. I play both, and enjoy both.
