Arent Eastern Orthodox Churches more domyer? ;). Sorry, I am just used to seeing Catholic Churches. There arent very many Eastern Orthodox Churches in the US where I live.

Somehow I have a suggestion for these Drawing threads. Would this thread also serve for help for beginning and amiture (Spelling? Its the word below Professional) artists.

I asked this before Curt, but what tools do you use?
I am wondering the same (Though I would have to go open source/free software) and if it can be used if I do draw my own manga characters.

Eventhough I have a scanner, apperently the printer/scanner combi does not agree with XP.

There are many types of orthodox churches. The main two are cross-shaped basilica with dome, and regular cross-shaped basilica (no dome, and it looks roman).

For example the second church in these is a regular cross-shaped basilica:

(i made these for a byzantine set)

Thats basicly what my doodles of people look like .

#268 and #269 I especially like :goodjob:

I usually start with pencil and then ink, but in some cases I skip the inks.

I do the colour with PS7, and use scanned holiday snaps as the backdrops.

:)

@Eran:
Your stick guy was not carrying a copy of 'Meridian Magazine', so it cannot really be you.

PS
I actually think drawing is a good for chilling out, I think everyone should do it.
Everyone can draw, we all just have different levels of practice.

I have PSP8 and I dont know how you did thoes things.

Not sure how I can draw "draw" on the comptuer. The only thing close to a drawing pad is the touch pad on my laptop.

Gives hope for me yet :D

If you don't mind, what sort of pencils and inks do you use? I'm a fan of mechanical pencils for the guidelines, and indian ink or drawing pens for the final stuff - the traditionalist in me tries to avoid computer work, but it can give a very nice finish.

A warrior chick...This is a pencil sketch I decided to mess around with.

Just a question (More towards Curt in general) how do you get the proportions right when your drawing the human body and the human head?

I just use a normal HB pencil, and some 'Faber-Castell' fibre tips for the inks.

I am a cheapskate, so I try and save cash...But I will splash out on good paper.

Millers in Glasgow do a nice bundle of 50 sheets of card for £6.99...Recommended!

It's all in the eye of the beholder.
I tend to make the head bigger on smaller characters, and smaller of big dudes.

With a girl character, it depends on the race/species, but I try to make her head
a third of the torso length...It takes some practice to find what is right for you.

I think if you have a solid style, just let it evolve naturally...
You should have seen my stuff in the 1990s, pretty bizarre!

Groovy, groovy. I have myself a nice light mechanical pencil which does the job, I find that it's easier to rub out mistakes with it :mischief:

Sketchpad wise, I'm a bit too determined to have some proper, thick paper, even if it's not needed, so I shell out a bit more. That said, I usually use pretty thick pens so it's nice to have stuff that doesn't run through to the next page.

Cheers!
