BtS games are supposed to be called .CivBeyondSwordSaves, not .Civ4SavedGame. The latter is the vanilla save file. In order to get the BtS save files to show up you have to change which version you are looking for in one of the dropdown menus.
So if I do that, I won't need to play around with any dlls? Will things effectively be the same as they were before that 3.13 patch came out?
*.CivBeyondSwordSaves is the correct save file extension for BTS games. There is a menu option called "Civ4 Versions" where you can change which version's saves it displays. If you don't have the menu option, try downloading v1.7 from the HOF Mods page, Map Finder tab.The Map Finder utility is saving all my BtS games as .CivBeyondSwordSaves rather than .Civ4SavedGame and they're not showing up in MapFinder.exe until I manually rename each save game.
The Steam Warlords assets don't match. I haven't had time to go back and put together a difference list and test copying those files from BTS. There was a note about it in the Announcement thread on the second post.As a Steam user, i have d/l'ed and installed all 3 mods. Vanilla and BTS worked. Warlords didnt. (modified assets error.) I deleted warlords and am re-dowloading it. Something must have gotten screwed up in there. That, and i didnt think to run the assetchecker, but i will if its still being a tart.
Except for the DLLs you try copying those files from the BTS folder. There is a download with the two correct DLLs. There is a link at the top of second post of the announcement thread.Steam users will have to install HOF 1.74.002 in BOTH vanilla mods and the Civ4War/Mods folder and the Civ4War/Warlords/Mods folder. This removed 33 errors from the assetchecker.
7 Files do not match.
Vanilla: Assets\cvgamecordll.dll
Vanilla: Assets\python\cveventmanager.py
Vanilla: Assets\python\screens\cvmaininterface.py
Vanilla: Assets\XML\GlobalDefines.xml
Vanilla: Assets\XML\Units\CIV4UnitInfos.xml
Vanilla: PublicMaps\aDebugMap.py
Warlords: Assets\cvgamecoreDLL.dll
This is off a fresh install/download from the steam servers.
IMO, it looks like the 2.13 patch didnt apply the 1.74 patches changes to the STEAM vanilla files in the warlords folder. As i discovered trying to get the WOTM to work, the vanilla dll asset is completely a different size than the vanilla and bts vanilla's asset. I am going to try swapping dll's after work, but that still leaves 5 files.
Thx for getting BTS and vanilla to work, i appreciate it greatly, so look for some submissions of those in the near future!
There is an error with the asset checker i should inform about. When checking the Steam version of Vanilla, it looks at the warlords folder and not the vanilla folder. Specificly, the c:\STEAM\common\Civ4Warlords folder instead of the c:\steam\commom\civ4 folder.
I guess that goes for using the asset checker too.Steam Edition:[/B]
- Please start and exit Vanilla Civ4 before attempting to install the Vanilla HOF Mod. Steam updates the Vanilla InstallPath to the intall path of the last version played. (i.e. If you last played BTS then the Vanilla HOF Mod will install to the BTS folder.) Notes:
- Only the Vanilla HOF Mod is affected.
- You can always override the HOF Mod's install path if it is not pointing to the right location.
I moved the 4 files from the BASE Civ4 folder, (not the BTS vanilla folder) to the proper vanilla warlords folder to fix the issue. The .dlls from the zip fixed those two problems, and the aDebugmap was showing as an extra file.
It is fixed, i can launch Warlords in the newest mod with no assets warning errors.
I guess that goes for using the asset checker too.![]()
Thanks.Interestingly enough, i couldnt even get the assetchecker to work unless i booted the game first then exited. So that expains that.
Please use this as your guide to getting Steam versions of Civ4 Warlords HOF and WOTM compatable. Vanilla and BTS are already compatable with no changes.
1. Open a browser to your steam directory in which Civ4 is located. The path should look similar to this "c:\steam\steamapps\accountname\common\Sid Meyer's Civilzation 4" (Known now as Civ4Van)
2. Open a second browser to "c:\steam\steamapps\accountname\common\Sid Meyer's Civilzation 4 Warlords" (known now as CIV4WAR)
3. Copy the 4 files below from the CIV4Van to the corresponding CIV4WAR folders. The files will appear to be the same size.
Assets\python\cveventmanager.py
Assets\python\screens\cvmaininterface.py
Assets\XML\GlobalDefines.xml
Assets\XML\Units\CIV4UnitInfos.xml
4. Download the LINK HERE standard .dll's for HOF use.
5. Direct a browser to the CIV4WAR folder.
6. Place the vanilla .dll in the CIV4WAR\assets forlder. The size of the old should be 3.53mb while the new will be 3.54mb.
7. Place the Warlords .dll in the CIV4WAR\warlords\assets folder. The size will be 3.68mb for both.
8. Launch Warlords and the current HOF mod, and test.
Addendum: Should you have any issues still, delete the moved files from BOTH CIV4VAN and CIV4WAR folders and reverify the steam files. (right click the game, properties, local files, verify integrity of game cache) This will aquire the newest version of those files for you to try again.
That should do it. Feel free to ask if anything seems....odd or hard to follow, i can possibly rephrase to make it easier to read/do.
I've added a new tab to the Gauntlet page that is currently titled 'List'. This tab shows a list of every gauntlet that has been released along with its settings. I hope this is helpful.
I have heard about the autolog and the attack odds. I have seen what autolog is doing but not the attack odds. A screenshot of the attack odds and the Specialist stacker would be helpful.Issues with HOF MOD 1.74.002. Maybe these are my problems. I'm not at home to check them out and am doing this from memory.
- With autolog enabled I get python exceptions.
- Attack odds in the lower right show what looks like a python variable.
- Specialist stacker seems to show wrong specialists and very odd stacking.
If I get the chance, I'll post more detail. But, maybe there are known answers. I haven't checked to see if these issues are present in Warlords or BTS mods, yet. I'm anxious to play more BTS so I might see them there first.
Sorry about the whining. The HOF MODs are really great. Thanks for all the work.

OK. Here's the Specialist Stacker problem.

Its really hard to tell what's going on here. The +- buttons don't line up with the specialists. You need to hover over them to see which ones they are when the tooltip pops up. The engineer specialist lost his buttons all together. The scientists for the Great Library at the bottom aren't correct. I think you should have two of them. And the specialists overlap.
I have the default settings in the options, except the Specialist Stacker is checked. I'm running 1600x1200 resolution.:
It may be an intermittent bug. If you see it again, try to remember what was different about that time. Of course, it could just be something you have to play awhile to get.The attack-odds-python-variable problem has gone away.![]()
Maybe. Stacking Specialists isn't a priority for me, so even when I saw this problem months ago, I ignored it.I wonder if it is the resolution throw off some calc. Thanks.
I saw the problem right away in GOTM25. But, now its gone. I'll try to reproduce ASAP.It may be an intermittent bug. If you see it again, try to remember what was different about that time. Of course, it could just be something you have to play awhile to get.![]()
