Soviet Heavy Tank T-35 2018-07-05

The T-35 was a Soviet heavy tank of the interwar period and early Second World War that saw limited production and service with the Red Army. Designed in the 1930's the vehicle was part a brief generation of mutli-turreted designs favored by virtually every major power of the time. However it, along with its smaller sibling the T-28 holds the distinction of being the only one used in combat during the Second World War.

At the time it entered service the T-35 would have been a formidable vehicle with respectable armor and an assortment of heavy weaponry capable of knocking out any tank of the time. However by 1941 both were becoming dangerously deficient. Newer the less, all 61 vehicles were used during the initial stages of the war in particular during the defense of Kharkov and early stages of the Battle of Moscow.

The last recorded service of the tank was in 1945 when a single captured model with its weapons removed was repurposed as an observation and command vehicle in the final defense of Berlin.
