Just to be clear I am talking about tech, in the victory overview one can see the number of techs each civilization has. I've played a mediocre game and only 2 AIs are anywhere near me in the number of techs they have researched. Some AIs have half my tech, it almost seems impossible based on...
Something must be wrong, did someone flip a switch and the AI gets a malus to tech? I'm fighting crossbowmen with tanks on Immortal!
Anyone else have the same experience?
Ignoring religion, intentionally or not allows you to:
Save hammers otherwise used on shrines, temples
Save upkeep
However, it IS hard to replace some of the bonuses you miss out on. Better make sure what you are doing instead of producing faith helps you win the game.
Number one priority when playing Diety/Immortal is to keep the AIs at war with each other and not with the player.
The art is to make sure none of them get too dominant.
Also we haven't seen your cities. But Washington is building an aqueduct... really not what you need. If you are going to win by war, forget infrastructure, build units and more units.
Even if you plan on a science victory you will want mostly units at this point.
In nuclear war you will lose units. Forget your "experienced" units. In a nuclear age you can no longer depend on a small elite army.
Since you are not going for cultural, annex some puppets and mass produce infantry (should have done this a while ago).
America's invasion doesn't look that...
Because we all know one of the main factors of war is the element of surprise. And what could be more surprising than the First Batallion Transvestite Brigade?
Good conclusions, Tyrant Roger, however for point 8: do not expect too much investment in the AI by Firaxis. A very tiny fraction of players ever get to the proficiency where the current AI is "insufficient". Hence spending a lot on the AI is not really cost effective.
I have to commend them...
